    Saturday

The meeting place for my inaugural ADV ride was set at the servo at a little village just north of Tamworth, this was organised so we could fill our little tanks to the brim and then set off towards our first organised fuel stop, This plan went to poo when it was discovered on arrival at the servo they didn’t sell fuel,, WTF I made a mad dash up the highway 10 ks to Moonbi and filled the narny up and then return to get set to leave. Damus and Billy were waiting patiently; Billy was biting at the bit to let the mighty 230 loose on the open road. There were 2 mates of mine that wanted to take the teneres for a day ride. The where only going as far as the buckets way and then up through Glouster and then back to Tamworth so they tagged along for a part of the trip. We set off at 07.40 and headed out towards weabonga, this road was known to be closed but I knew you could get through on bikes, the lovely road people had just graded the road up to the point it was impassable, this meant the road was smooth as a babies bum, but a slippery as greased pig due to them bloody marble like rocks the grader leaves behind. We made weabonga and the set sail for another little village called niangla. It was about here I thought , i should have looked at Google maps for a third time to get our route as there was a fork in the road and I had no idea which way to go. The coin landed on tails so it was off to the right we went. We found a familiar road and all was good for the rest of the trip to Nowendoc. We topped up the steeds had a drink and then set off towards the coast, I have never seen a road so bloody dusty, you could not get within 200 metres of the bike in front, I was praying my air filter oil was doing its job. We had a few stops along the way however it was to darn hot to stay still for too long, told the crew that our next turn was the Tiri turn off. Powelly (tenere) was leading and bolted; he then went straight past the turn off and just kept on going. It was about an hour later he returned looking sheepish.
We parted company at Dunbrook and they headed to Glouster and we powered on towards the Kramback pub. 12.40 was our arrival time at the kramback where we met Bruce from Mudgee.
The rest of the mob eventually fronted and then it was off to Nabiac.
Job 1 was turn on the aircon in the room at the pub.

A few sherbets later we all purchased a 6 pack (in Boulders case a carton) and I was left with organising the courtesy bus,(i thought everyone would have learnt from the poker run experience)and we were off to the museum. That place is awesome. Following tea the ring of knowledge was split into several rings and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

    More to come later

my experience of adventure riding has now been completed, I think I qualify to have some comment on MY thoughts of this form of riding. Firstly I can see where people can like this form of riding because you do get to see alot of country side, and I mean alot.
The destination for this ride was world class and well worth the ride, However I personally prefer to ride the singles and fire trails found in the scrub. I found this form of ride to be something that would be a required taste (so to speek).
Any way that outa the way I might start posting a few piccies.

What a trip home,,5 hours to do 250ks,, we tried to avoid as much blacktop as we could, found some sweet trails for future investigation in the process, Oh yeah thanks to all for the weekend,,That museum was unbelievable, we didnt it leave until 09.00 this morning to start the long ride home, not 1 issue for the whole trip, we even found Billies number plate for him on the way home.
