Trailboss wrote:Beags I just read that your mate Rossco is thinking of unloading the 690 for a DR now, must be bad these 690s
No, just that DR’s are very good things!! As all good ADV riders know!!
Dean is a top calibre rider and this rally would have been a enjoyable ride for him!!
The whole rally seems to be well organised and full credit must go to the crew. I have enjoyed following it on ADV and can see it will be a success and more people will have a go next year.
Having said that I would rather ride 7000 k’s with OB’s and put the money left over to charity, we have enough knowledge here to be able to do a ride like this on a smaller scale of course and pick where we ride and how much tar we do etc etc.
As I said before top effort by the organisers and I wish them well for next year.adam wrote:For info on the loctite preventative maintenance procedure seehttp://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-625998.html
It details the how to’s and why’s of doing this
Its easy to do and if true can save alot of heart ache :S I do it whenever I change a front sprocket and have 20000 kms on the clock
Adam.
+1 for the above
Letter to the Doc!
Hey Nick they look like a good thing and the quality of film and sound is very good! What a shame you did’nt have them on the high country ride on certain water crossings
A few pics from the trip.
A letterbox we came across
Hey Krusty, we stayed at your place and I told one of our party that you bought the place at auction last year! He thinks he owes you a drink for the privilege of staying there!! He said why would he buy a place all the way out here!! I said he is American and he said OK that makes sense!!
Yes TB, have a few more pics and I went down the bore track a few k’s to see how it looked and it was closed but we would take bikes down there no prob’s and by the time we go should be all ok and open again. The roads from Yunta to the Flinders and the Gammon ranges were in really good condition and the road to Camerons would have been ok but they are not payed for by the gas & oil fields and are closed at sniff of rain!! We have some phone numbers for the guy on the dog fence and we should be ok to ride some tracks that are not public roads if we need to.
Hey Nick, no the roads were ok and not as bad as last year but they closed out Camerons and Tibooburra. We were able to go around and stay on roads that are looked after by the gas fields! We also had a few drinks with people in the know and have a few tracks and tricks up our sleeve for when we are on bikes.

Heated grips alone would not have cut it up there eag’s !! Brass monkey territory up there mate  You can only get so much Bundy in those panniers.
Engine cases do come as a pairs, I patched a crankcase on a tt600 after throwing a chain with metal putty and put 10,000 more k’s on it before i sold it with no problems!! I know someone that used metal putty and then drilled and put a thread in the stuff and it worked so its good stuff. You can also get the case welded too. Good luck with it and keep us posted.
