Thanks for making the effort Trev, great report i will be trying one on the Dr for the next big ride.
The RR was really good reading also and I am pleased that you had such a great time out there!! We really are lucky to live where we live.Great report and picks guys. I would have thought that a dr with 15-41 gearing would have had a fast enough top speed Lotsa, were you not happy with the Dr’s performance mate?? Bad luck with the tyre and you did a good job on the rim too!!
Must have hit hard even with the weight you had on the old girl. :woohoo: Good to see that you managed to complete your trip and didnt have any road closures or bad weather, lets hope for more of the same in Oct.Great report Mick, good to see the wauchope boys out and having some fun, you really do have some great trails on your doorstep up that way!!
Thanks for all the Birthday wishes guys. I was up in Kakadu with the trouble and strife, she surprised me with a birthday trip up there for 10 days and we had a ball. No phones, internet, kids or work!! :woohoo:
IMO, The most important thing with running low pressure tyres is heavy duty tubes and rim locks, the difference it makes is chalk and cheese!!! Its all about traction and it makes a huge difference !! But you have to raise pressures when the terrain changes and that’s the secret !! Sometimes its about finding a happy medium.
I have a ten ton press in the shed that works really well, and its available to any OB that wants to use it.
Great stuff Lotsa, looks like you made it to the good spots mate! Hope all went well looking forward to the rest of the report, did you do the bore track or was it too wet!!
Anyone coming on this ride that wants tyres oil or the likes at the halfway point Camerons Corner, please pm me and we can arrange to drop spares at the corner when I pass through in July. If you are not in Sydney I will be happy to purchase tyres, oil or any spares that you need stored there and you can fix me up at the Corner. I will be taking a litre of unifilter oil and some turps, greese etc plus oil for a change and rear tyre. Lets try and keep things to a minimum ie we can share filter oil etc.
I leave Sydney on the 2nd July so you need to let me know as soon as poss!!Well another great Birthday weekend ride, they just get bigger and better! :woohoo:
It was great to see so many new OB’S along and so many of the old ones too, the riding was great as always and a big thanks to all those that led and swept and made it such a great weekend. Also a big thanks to all the support guys for a big effort they made it all look so easy and were there for us everywhere along the way. Thanks to Moose for bringing the truck along we would have been stuck without it.
We are so lucky to all be part of such a fantastic group of blokes not a bad one amongst us  and we raised some good money that will help out some really good people top effort by everyone involved.
I look forward to the the next year and some more top rides and social events thanks again to all that make this site what it is and long may it continue.
P.S WE must not forget the sponsers for all there support and for the prizes that they donated this year.Hey boll’s, I would have been in on this mate but its my daughters 21st birthday on the 25th so I will be out.
You guys have a ball and make sure you tie those swags down mate!!May 21, 2011 at 11:35 pm in reply to: 3rd Annual OBT Birthday Ride Weekend, 28th, 29th May 2011 #198439Rain and wind wont stop an Old Bull Birthday ride! BRING IT ON! :woohoo:
Phil is a really top Aussie bloke in so many ways and as Nick said he is always happy to throw his hat in the ring for charity and put in time to organise rides etc . I hope they let him be and allow him to do what his family has done for years, just work hard and make a fair living its a way of life what they do and you would not do it if it was just about money!! If we are not careful we will loose our identity here too. I should know I come from Jersey and have seen first hand what happens when the big boys take over and totally ruin a great way of life.
Great idea there Nick, we can sit in our armchairs and have a look at gear thats been tested and see if it works before we buy!!
Hey Trev, there is a Dakar 650 on advrider site on the flea market page 8, about 9 posts down looks ok!! Have a look I think from memory its in Melbourne.
