Thanks to TB & the crew for organising the ride. I scored a box of Motul products – happy days
Tip for new blokes – Apparantly all you have to do is look vaguely like an american late night talk show host to get a prize !
The ride was a real variety. From black top, to dusty open stuff, to sand, to tight single, hills, steep decents, & everything in between.
Well, my near new Tenere is now well & truely 2nd hand & a bit bent in places – as are my ribs
Had a really good day on Saturday until ( as Casey Stoner said to Valentino Rossi ) “my ambition outwayed my ability”
I need lots more practice riding before attempting another Nav ride. I’m not used to that sort distance (unless it’s all open stuff) & paid the price for getting tired & losing concentration.
Will try & do the full 2 days next time.
Cheers,
BuckyThink we’re going to have to bite the bullet & have more of a go at doing this stuff ourselves.
:blink:Cheers,
Nice vid TB – it’s going to be a top ride !
Glad I didn’t get a Blue Tenere. Looks like they get tired & need to have a lie down every so often
Cheers,
Thank God you didn’t go with the baked bean option for lunch jtb.
You may have been forcibly evicted from the Motel room !
Your Ten looks just like this 👿 Watch out – it’s evil !
Cheers,
I’m praying to the weather God’s for a little rain on Friday. Even a bit on Sat would be OK. just to keep the dust down.
Tractor & I went for a “shakedown ride” on Sat in the Chichester State Forest ( Barrington Tops area = between Dungog & Gloucester ) I know it’s not where we’ll be riding on Nav ride, but it’s not that far away either.
The dust was shocking, that fine powdery crap that hangs in the air. TB has mentioned about freshly graded roads being slippery. Same was true on our ride. The Tenere is not exactly a rocketship, but was spinning up everywhere – really hard to get grip and drive – FUN though :cheer:
Hurry up Friday arv !!
Cheers,
I used to think you were a good rider JTB.
However……..after following Mr Moto X around for a day, I’ve come to the following conclusions –
* You are merely an average rider
* I’m shite :laugh: !
Cheers,
Great ride report JTB.
I had a ball. So much so that the old KTM (that thinks its a Yamaha) is not for sale, & will continue to keep the Tenere company in the shed, ready for next one.
Watching “Mr MX” sliding the WR around like its a speedway bike was something I’m not used to seeing (unless it’s on the telly). The bloke CAN ride.
Top weekend away !
Cheers,
BuckyComprehensive ride report there mate !
Was a great ride & I reckon we covered almost every surface ( apart from sand ) that we’re likely to come across.
I loved ( ALMOST) every minute. Riding in the dark with roos & wombats everywhere when I’m “optically challenged” was a worry. I was using the force for that bit !
The Tenere impressed me. Must admit that 200kg bikes with high ‘ish tyre pressures & slippery red clay aren’t a good mix. We rode with a lot more caution than we’d normally show on enduro bikes, & still got through at a reasonable pace (for me anyway).
Will have to get video for the next one. JTB’s impression of the water jet at Lake Berley Griffin when he hit the causeway at about 60km/h, & his 180 degree spin on the red clay hill would make for a good laugh bench racing over a beer after the ride.
Can’t wait to do it all again & grateful for a good hit out on the new machine before the Nav ride in August.
Thanks for planning & leading it all JTB.
Cheers,
BuckyHi TB,
Could I please add my mate “Tractor” to the list. He’s overseas at the moment, but we spoke about this ride before he left & he’s very keen to come along.
Thanks,
BuckyHi TB,
I’d love to tag along for my first Old Bulls Nav ride please.
I know John ( JTB2879 ) is keen as too.
Thanks,
BuckyGet it towed to nearest Toyota dealer & get that new one you’ve been looking at
Cheers,
Touratech in Australia do a lot of the same stuff Off the Road Germany sell.
Off the Road much cheaper, & postage quite reasonable too.
Hey JTB, is the white front guard a preview to a possible future colour change ????
I’ve recently fitted one I bought from the “Off the Road” mob in Germany.
They call it – “Rally Front Fender, high”. Cost 33 Euro – roughly $50. It fits perfectly. Only negative is it’s a bit narrow & not quite as robust as some.
Looks the goods though :cheer:
Cheers,
Cheers jtb,
Your centre stand completely different design to SW Motech one I’ve fitted.
Thanks anyway,
Thanks TB
With the centrestand – every other bike I’ve had has had a rubber stopper on the centrestand to hold it off the chassis / stop it banging when you hit bumps etc. The SW Motech didn’t come with one.
Will look into the suspension when finances permit !
Cheers,
PS – Glad I got picked white. Not many around & they look the business !
