Repalced a fuel filter in the 2010 CRF250R, re-shimmed the intake valves and took it for a test drive. Fitted an idle screw extension to the King Quad and mounted a UHF Radio to it as well.

Snowy has done a medical paper on neck braces..i’m sure he would be keen to have a yarn to you about it.

    Bol :woohoo:

I have noticed a few Leatt braces that are used in conjunction with roost armour seem to result in fractured collarbones when the rider takes a high impact. It’s usually the impact side that I think forces the brace down on the collarbone area and absorbs the forces – unfortunately something has to give and the collarbone is designed to do that, more so if you fall and land with your arms straight.

This rider didn’t have any marks on his shoulder from a heavy impact causing the break hence the brace may have done it.

Better a collarbone than a neck anyday

Only issue I can see with the Andriod version is your personal security codes will lock acess to the application if others need to get it. maybe turn off security on a ride may be the best option or right your pin code on the inside of the phone cases.

There is now an I.C.E. app for both Iphones and Androids. Seems to be alright on the Nexus, haven’t got an iphone to try it on.

Only got one video of Sam crossing a creek, without much success

Have had that happen before, water was chrstal clear and was only about 4 inches deep till I sunk the bike in a 4 ft deep hole doing the same sort of up creek riding. Found now it’s easier to cross the creek the shorter way :P

in reply to: Seat cover which staple gun? #208223

Found it was cheaper to get the Upholsterer to staple the seat cover back on – cost $35 where the stapler was going to cost upwards of $50 to $100 for a reasonable one.

Cam chain all changed, just broke the bloody clutch centre when I was tightening it back up – should have used the special tool instead of the stand in screwdrivers – managed to pick up a used one for $65 – Lesson learnt, get the shop to tension it up with the special tool for $5:(

    Hi Bulla
What would be the perfect info you could find on a patient at a job you were called to ?

Be great to know so we can all help you guys and ourselves !!

    Cheers

    Nick

Things we need to know definitely are:

    Name
    Address
Contact number for Next of Kin
Date of Birth although we estimate if we have to however makes it easier to match medical records

Allergies to drugs, foods ie bee stings, morphine allergies, medication reactions

Any medical conditions – heart problems, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy serious past injuries i.e fractures or head injuries

Medications – any tablets you take daily (in case they interact with emergency drugs)

That covers most immediate issues especially if we cannot get hold of the Next of Kin and you happen to be unable to communicate i.e. Unconcious

Carry one in your helmet and one in your backpack/toolbag to be safe and have the ICE number recorded in your phone. Dont forget to leave your phone unlock code somewhere in your kit that others can access in an emergency.

Been to jobs where none of the riders really knew the injured rider and a few where people were riding solo but had ICE cards or similar in their gear which helped.

http://www.medids.com/free-id.php – You can print them out from here for free, well worth it, don’t forget to laminate it though.

Found the answer – unfortunately looks like I will have to remove the rh side cover and clutch basket. Need to put the new clutch in anyway and will give me a chance to check around the bottom end as well.

Used to use them in the Army all the time however took about 5 mins minimum to heat about 600mls of water and that was with wind protection. 2lts in 5 minutes, I reckon they are dreaming.

    RE: Creb Track

Alls good – reopens sometime towards the end of the month as they are just completing removal by helicopter of the last power line structures. Council now is responsible for the upkeep and have had a fair bit of pressure applied to keep it open by lots of vocal local groups and the tourist sector.

There used to be( still maybe) tracks from Kuranda to Port Douglas, Kuranda to Julatten, Julatten to Cooktown. Also from Kuranda to Mount Molloy throught the area they call Quaids.

Know the areas you are talking about however they are fairly busy on most weekends and heavily policed – not as bad as down that way but. Called Seven Hills and mt Molloy and runs off Quaid rd up thru the forest to Mt Molloy thereabouts. havent ridden it yet cause Im still recovering form my last off and missed a recent ride up there.

If your In Cairns, there were also runs from Redlynch up to Kuranda( rather hard run). Its been 20yrs since i was riding up that way, so its hard to know whats still open.

This track is probably covered in houses now, the whole valley is nearly full of houses and most of the range you are talking about is now World heritage listed

If you get up to Ravenshoe, there is tracks around the Millstream area that are a Blast, actually there’re old Tin Mines along teh river from Herberton to Ravenshoe, these make for GOOD riding also.

Quite good riding Im told up there from quite a few, heaps of places to ride and usually find it hard to come across anyone else in a day. just far enough out of cairns to keep the ratbags out. Plan to spend a few days exploring the area soon.
