Thanks Teknik, would’ve jumped at it for sure! :woohoo: but I’ve just got mine back from Waggot today that i sent up last Wednesday :pinch: . I did get the rockers redone too though so thanks for the info on them too.
Maybe next time I rebuild an XR400 :whistle:Nickj wrote:Here’s a link Al , they look like a good thing and way cheaper than the originalNick
+1
I’ve got the Vapor with the clip on “dash board” cluster. Once you get to grips with the multi-function buttons (which aint too bad) its a breeze… from memory
Put it on the bike when i bought it and it hasn’t missed a beat since, aside from the standard back-up battery dying (after 2+ years). Replaced with a new Lithium and and she’s apples (The Back-up battery is only for the unit to work when the bike is stationary, when you get moving even with a dead battery the speedo will still give a reading)

Thanks for the Heads up on the locals Teknik :woohoo: something I wouldn’t have found on my own, would’ve gone with one, eventually, as you said from the states. Will give both a ring on monday.
On the topic of auto Decomp removal, mine didn’t come with one (bought second hand) and it appears the oil gallery was never plugged in absence of the unit, that should have been done right?
Also is there a need to replace the cam shaft at all in terms of wear? I realise the stock cam aren’t optimal from what I’ve read/ heard. But is it something I can live with considering my limited prowessThanks Again B.W.
Looks Good Raz, I like these a little better than the GoPro style, they seem like they’d catch less in the scrub too  … And for 1080 and 720 @60FPS the $200USD looks good too! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yeah I’m not sure at what point the rebuild turned into a resto  but somehow I’ve got carried away and that’s what happened
With no word of a lie, less than a week before the JRP seized up I was saying to my old man i’d like to strip it down and paint the frame one day…. :pinch:
Had a closer look at the old oil pump Rotors
Not as they should be. :ohmy:The work goes on :pinch:
The subframe had a bit of rust from a repair done previously (i think) which was braised up before painting.
The stand and right side footpeg mounts too
Can’t believe how well the frame has come up. Apart from the bottom frame tube on the right being stoved in looks like new :woohoo:The bearings all arrived and removing them was a breeze with a shop press, but found some scoring on the bearing housing
Sorted it out with a Rat tail file.Started assembly which is just like Lego or mechano, follow the numbers in the book, that simple  (Mostly)
Was spinning up the clutch pressure plate bolts when one of the bolt heads sheered off the shank at about 4-5 Nm, so its luck that it did then  .When I came to putting the left side crank case cover on one of the bolts was spinning in the thread housing, stripped bolt i thought
The solution was just to run a bottoming tap through all the threads to clean out and clean up all the threads. Took a while to do left and right sides but its worth while.Ive ordered and received a pair of black OEM style boots from Pyramid Parts Australia that was sent from
N.Z. $30 direct from their shop postage took about a week and a 1/2 to get here, will review when fitted, Thanks all for your contributions.B.W.
Nice one Razz, its a good place to get acclimatised greasy in the wet too :woohoo:
Gimme 2 weeks and ill be back from bare boltsB.W.
Thanks Boss
happy birthday Razzle, hope you get at least a 1/2 day off packing, if not you can have a belated
birthday ride.
Gimmy a couple of weeks to rebuild   and we’ll get into collombatti too :woohoo:B.W.
I’ve had the Thor Impact Rig SE for a bit over a year now (as long as ive been riding) and even on the hotter days its not overly noticeable as far as heat goes does stuff all for warmth on the cooler days and it fits under my large Jersey and jacket (I wear M size t-shirt) The kidney belt part of it is useless though.
yeah, she was a doozey, did a right proper job on it  and only about 1500k’s max after a professional top end re-build. Also found the missing tooth of an idler gear that was replaced that another mechanic told me was definitely not in there anymore…
Ya gotta laugh, learn from it and get on with itps I must’ve missed something there, wasn’t sure who was talking at what
