    G’day Nathan,

Did you ride with Blue and I out at Bike Territory ages back. I seem to remember a Nathan from Tamworth who was into trials bikes as well. Surely there could only be one Nathan in Tamworth. Anyway welcome mate.

I tried the MX71’s on the weekend hoping they would grip like the 51’s but last longer. I should have known better than to use a hard terrain tyre. Any moisture in the ground and no grip at all. Had to let it down to 8psi just to get up one hill. Knowing my luck they will now last forever. Even if they do they will still be coming off soon they are that bad. In saying that the front seemed okay, just nothing in the rear.

I just put new pads on and they sit flush so at least that’s a good sign. Got me thinking though. On the wave rotor there is a section on the tip of the wave that doesn’t get covered by the pads. This means it doesn’t get worn down and is hence a litlle thicker than the rest of the rotor. Maybe this is putting extra pressure on the pads as they have to grind against the rotor on the face and the side. Will keep an eye on it anyway.

    Thanks

    Ev,

The park is in the ranges. Once you get over the ranges (where I live) the flatness starts. We won’t be riding in the flat parts. The lowest point we will be riding is 500m above sea level and the highest is 1100m above sea level so we go up a bit. Put it this way there is a lot of 20m contours on the map. The whole place is aimed at the enduro rider. That is why there is only one group at a time. There are two MX tracks (one easy and one hard) but I wasn’t even planning on showing you them. They are just next to the quarters so people can do them to fill in time at the start and end of the day if they have the energy.

I know it’s a long way but I don’t think you will be disappointed. I’m not saying that every single minute will be exactly what you want. I travel to coffs for a two day ride and in a two day ride there are always sections that are the transport sections between the real good stuff. What I am saying is that there is more than enough great riding to be had that you won’t even remember the other bits.

It’s worth the drive and it’s definitely not flat. It’s on the eastern side of Narrabri.

I’m not stressed if you bring blokes who are not OBT. We can convert them.

Looks the goods capt. I know who to go to now when I need stickers put on. You would be well practiced by now. I bet that trailer takes some towing (and pulling up) when all that gear goes inside.

Hi Bundyroy,What grade is this ride? And how far is it from coffs?Have you been to this park ,how much singletrack is there?
    cheers Ev

    Ev,

It’s a little hard to grade as that depends on what the group wants. Most likely a 3-4 I’d say based on who’s coming so far. The park is 7500 acres but you never get more than 10km from the base camp as the camp is right in the middle. So if you get a flat etc it is easy to ride back and get it fixed. I’ve ridden there heaps as the owner used to be my pony express partner. look here http://www.biketerritory.com.au for a few more details and search bike territory in my posts here for a few ride reports. There is a lot of excellent single track loops, the hill climbs range from average to impossible for anyone but the talented but in saying that all the really tough hills are what I’d call safe in that very few people damage their bikes in an attempt. I’ve never made horse power hill yet and I would have had at least 50 attempts.

There is also an excellent enduroX track. In short there is a great range of riding and we won’t be covering much of the same ground twice in the weekend (unless you want to of course). There will be an easy way offered around all hard obsticals but it will not be the first choice. The pony express track should be marked out by then too.

It is around 450km from coffs, so 5 to 5.5 hours.

PM me your email address and I can email you a map of the place if you want. It’s a good map based on gps logs and the local topo map so you can see contours to gauge hills. You may be able to get it off the website too, I can’t remember.

Like TB said, standard is 50 teeth so the sprocket has been changed since new. For my 2 cents if it came loose on the very first ride then dealers responsibility. After that its riders fault. Should be checking or notice the god awful noise. In my experience with other peoples looses sprockets they tend to come very loose within one ride.

Didn’t know about the bolt changing though. I’m on my 3rd rear sprocket on the ktm and did more than that on the wr and have never bought any bolts yet. They have never come loose yet, touch wood.

Thanks for the replies. Haven’t changed air filter oil brand. I use Motul air filter oil (about the only brand the local shop stocks). My bike has been spending a lot of time on its side lately. Been practicing in one of the state forests and it is reasonably hard riding. Was looking at my bike last night and it starting to show the consequences of not staying upright.

I’m not sure about the breathers but I don’t think they do go to the air box and I certainly haven’t moved any there.

Thanks again and I will have to try a little harder to keep it tyres down.

    Hey Boll,

Not sure you fit the mould for BMW owners yet. You’d better go out and invest in one of those white flip up face helmets, some flip up glasses/sunnies and bib and braces (preferably with the bmw logo).

You had also better learn the walk. You know the one. Slow pace. Hands clasped behind the back. Slightly stiff legged. Look of internal reflection on the face with the occasional chin rub as you look in disbelief at people who have the audasity to take their bike offroad and get them dirty.
