Hey Boony, how come that telescope near the window is aimed at Boll’s house?

Your wife must be a lot more patient than mine if she’s let you keep a half dismantled bike on the back deck all this time! Don’t entertain much?

Obviously greener over your way Boll. If that was here the whole paddock would have gone up and the bike would have been the least of your worries. Still not a pleasant thing to happen to your pride and joy.

The thread title is a bit misleading. Sounds to me like the adventure riding was fine. It was when you got off the bikes and walked that things went pear shaped. This proves that riding is better for you than walking.

I didn’t know him either but his face seems familiar for some reason. It is a very sad situation and I certainly feel for his wife and kids.

I’ve been thinking about this before this happened but this incident just enforces it in my mind. I think the police need more support from the public in general. For instance if a car crashes in a high speed chase it is the police’s fault. If the police have to use force to apprehend a criminal it is rough justice. It needs to go the other way aound. If there is a crash during a high speed chase the person not doing as the police ask is charged with attempted murder (what happens in the worst case when it goes wrong). I would also like to see how anybody can apprehend a thug resisting arrest without using force. There is only one language some people understand. The police have enough shit to deal with in a day without going around looking for an opportunity to punch someone. My feeling is if a policemean asks you to come in for questioning or a little cool down session in the cell and you don’t comply then you deserve what you get. There would be very few police who could be bothered to abuse this power and you can’t tell me that the police who work with these few bad eggs don’t know who they are and they can sort it out from within.

It all comes back to people having no responsibility for their actions. Every action has consequences and these consequences need to be appropriate. This means the police have to be backed up by the court system.

Sorry for the rant but this just annoys me no end.

Getting back on topic. I’d hate to step out of line in Coledale at the moment. My condolences to police community and the Rixon family.

Due to less daylight hours at the end of April it looks like the 12 hour is going to become something like a 2 hour prologue on Saturday and a 10 hour race Sunday. Bit of a bummer.

He’s selling the bike due to all his riding mates having babies and not riding much and he’s now more interested in mountain bikes and wants to free up some cash to sink into a better treddly.

Thats my hope too. I’m not giving up either any time soon. I’ll need to improve my skills though before I give horsepower a crack on the pushy. I reckon I’m a better chance of making it up on my pushy before I can on the bike though.

I’ve just bought a Scott Spark 40. It’s a dually but not as flash as yours Scotty. I’m almost ashamed to say it but I’ve even got the lycra now too. My wife calls my shorts with the straps over the shoulders the mankini. Shes definitely not a fan of the bike gear and I can’t say I blame her.

I’ve only been for about 20 rides so far and most of them have been on the tar trying to get some sort of resemblance of fitness back. My body has pretty much divorced me since I’ve been on the bike. Doesn’t like it at all but it will get used to it.

Theres only two things holding me back. Fitness and technique. Nothing to worry about really. Signed up for a 6 hour ride at the end of the month (pairs). That will be a test. Fundraiser for the westpac helicopter so at least help will be on hand if I need it.

Yeah it was. The only thing was I thought it was on near Newcastle like you said the tv commentators kept saying it was near adelaide so I was confused. The ground was very dry loose and rocky. Not like I imagine the watagans to be like.

Well done TB. Was reading through thinking it was unlike TB not to shame bike owner with pictures of dirt exposed once seat and tank were removed. I read on only to find out that Nick has been commisioned to build the deck for payment. Reason for no public shaming or any jibes revealed. I need a step by step on deck building too Nick. I reckon I could learn just as much from that as I have from TB’s bike tutorials.

The only trouble is a deck building thread could get a bit messy as it takes much longer to build decks and hence more beer would be consumed. Thinking of that I think you’re getting ripped TB. You’re supplying the beer for both the bike and deck building.

Even at $96 it’s still only 96/17000 = half a cent per km. Not bad when you look at that way. Mind you I’m not saying it’s alright for Yamaha to stitch everyone up either. If there’s a huge price difference go the cheapest I say.
