I was out riding. First time I noticed it was whilst I was parked waiting. Then when I took of it come good. Then shortly after they dissappeared all together never to return. Made all the downhills very interesting from that point on.
So the honda explains why the yamaha had to go so what is replacing Heidi?
When I first got back into bikes I asked the same question and was told it was to stop dust getting in during travel. So I thought about it for a while and said “so it has to work its way up the exhaust and into the cylinder if the piston happens to be down and into the valves if they happen to be open”. I’ve never believed it could be an issue and never bought one. Maybe there is some potential if a bike is backwards on the trailer like Lefty said. I do have a bung now but it is only for washing and I take it out as soon as I’m finished (well nearly every time). I must admit though that the main reason I take it out straight away is that otherwise I will forget and it is embarressing when someone has to tell you why your bike is not starting.
You getting out of bikes Boll? Did you try offloading Heidi to House or Digger?
Looking at that, it is just a glorified tyre holder and you still do it with your normal tyre levers or does it have the long lever you put under the the tyre lip and pivot around the centre bolt to get the tyre off.
Certainly cheap enough.
I run 13/52 and red spring. Love it. Not good for transport though. I don’t do transport, that’s why I have a ute. Mine’s 2009 (5 speed). Probably my riding style but I find lower gearing helps me keep the power on in tight stuff and hills whilst in 2nd or 3rd gear. Going back to first leaves you more susceptible to the bike reving out and loosing traction. I do know there is probably no difference between 1st/2nd as it is total gearing that counts (gearbox and chain ratio) but psychologically I feel better in second.

Thanks for letting us know about the push for the NDIS. I’ve just had a quick look on the website and I’m having trouble working out how the scheme is funded. Would we all contribute somehow (eg inbuilt cost as part of car rego or similar) or is the scheme purely funded from the federal coffers (meaning funded by taxpayers). I couldn’t really find anything on there that shows how it works and that it is actually viable in the long term. I did only have a very quick look though. The cause is great but only proposals that can achieve the desired outcomes should be supported. I’m sure it has all been thought through to get this far but I just wanted to see how it is proposed to work.
Well done boys. Was on holidays in Hervey Bay avoiding most of the rain when this was on. I did think about you all and was wondering if it would have gone ahead in the wet whilst I was savouring a beer at the aussie day festivities.

Just to clarify that it was not my mechanical skills that were lacking, the owner of the toy shop tried to put the honda together as well (didn’t really want to give me warranty – is that a honda trait too
, no that’s right it’s just an issue with all bikes as no ones ever seen “that problem” before) and even he admitted that the build quality was below par.

I always thought the aim was to go as far west as you could. It’s definitely a good idea to have one finish point and then people vary the distance by where they start. Is there any rules about breaks or checking in with race co-ordintaors along the way.
Do all “competitors” start at the same place. I always thought it started at byron bay being the most easterly point. At Mudgee 8:08am.
