Hey all, thanks to everyone who attended, was a great weekend and a pleasure to have you all. Sorry I wasn’t there earlier this morning to see some of you off.. We had a look at some other trails today, rest assured they’ll be ready for next time. Again, it was a pleasure, great weekend cheers Protty
Cheers, you happen to have a big tank?
Thanks fellas just read through Dejay’s build. Couple of questions if I can… I’m thinking of a 20 litre tank from MX1 (Acerbis) over a 30 litre, not sure I need that much fuel for what I want to do. Any idea on fuel range with the 30 litre tank?
Might sound a stupid question but why on earth would you want to lower the footpegs? I see Vince Strang sells a kit to do it but I’m wondering why you would???
Apparently the stock seat of the big girls are ordinary… any ideas on what blokes are doing to solve that one?
cheers for the help
Busy1140km’s and 41 hours now, using elf oil and changing gearbox oil every 5 hours. I remember the old IT’s you didn’t change the oil and the spark plug you could get to without removing the seat and tank….. Anyone wanna buy a KTM 250?
Ok, job done. Bundyroy, think I owe you a bottle. Can you believe that KTM would allow this to remain an issue. I have never heard of it, but something so simple could surely be sorted at the factory. The whole process took me about half an hour and once back together, the thing went like it use to. The young fella was thinking he had me on the last few rides but this arv showed him different (with a motor that works).
Tell anyone that you know who owns a KTM 2 Smoker they need to fix this issue. The expense of the pin dropping into the dreaded “hole” would be massive, I am thanking the dirt bike gods that my pin can out during an oil change.
And Bunyroy, don’t even know you but the dirt bike god sure sent you, thanks mate.
Might see you monday in Bago
BusyI changed the gearbox oil this morning before the ride and after pouring the spent oil into a container, found a “pin” in the bottom of the oil pan. Looks like I will be getting the welder out tomorrow to weld it back into the power valve! Last KTM I will own.
Thanks Bundyroy, your a champion and the video has been a great help too. Will update tomorrow if we have the answer.
Thanks to all who respondedThe problem becomes trying to hold onto em for more than ten minutes, and using MxRetreads just gets so much traction down it almost compounds the problem……..
See on a KTM you don’t need to move your feet, just twist your right hand to help lift the whole show that extra bit above all the nasty bits on the ground.. ha ha. I’ve got it bad, I know!
Ok, only new here to the site and don’t want to sound like a cranker but from what I have been taught (and learnt) it’s the arches all the way. In the proper “attack position” you should be able to draw a vertical line down through the centre or your backside (from the side), to the feet on the pegs, then elbows up blah blah blah. We don’t balance on the heels of our feet when we are not on the bike so how can you expect to do it standing on something 50mm wide. Just my thoughts, seems like everyone has em here…..
Thanks Mate, wondering if you have ever thought of riding something other than a farm implement?? U Oh, looks like it has started. Looking forward to some more rides around the place, got one bout 40 from here that I just might share….
Cheers
ProttyI was once told as an apprentice “do as I say and not as I do”……Maybe thats how rats opperate!!!!
Harsh but fair Boony, have you ridden one???.. There is a bloke posting here who I think has one but no one ever sees him riding it.. He reckons they are awesome. think I might move over to the KTM forum for some company. See ya out there soon.
Sounds good mate although in this heat the only laps I am doing are from the lounge to the fridge…. own one or chase one!!!! I like that.
Thanks TB, I bought a new 09 EXC250 (2 Smoker). Had been bouncing valves for a over ten years so wanted to try something different. The plan was to prep it to ride the Four Day this year (anyone interested?) but I am not sure a 2 smoker would be the thing to ride at a Four Day, well not in my shape anyway…
