The grading system is a guide. And I know I’m guilty of getting too hung up on it.

We ride dirt. Dirt changes – constantly. That’s why we like it. If we wanted a ride that was exactly the same each time we did it we’d ride tar.

The smiles on the faces in the carpark at the end of the day said it all. :woohoo: :woohoo: We had a ball. I think we all got challenged in some way or another, but we got through it and we’ll be better riders for it.

They say the second day after is always the worst and it’s true. I don’t think there’s a muscle in my body that doesn’t hurt; but there’s a big wide smile to go along with the aches as I remember the day and read everyone else’s take on the ride.

As you can tell from Hatto’s report there were sections that had changed and temporarily shifted things up a notch and pushed me wayyyy outside of my comfort zone; but as he says, that’s how you get better. Already I want to go back and conquer that mother of a hill. :S

I think one of the best things about the day was how a group of that size, with covered such a huge range of riding abilities, could ride happily together. It is a credit to everyone who took part. I know for me, it is great to get the opportunity to learn by watching others. How do they make it look so easy??

Splitting the ride in the afternoon meant that everyone had the opportunity to get what they wanted out of the day. For some it was a quick tar ride back to Nowra, for others like me it was a continuation of the grade 2 ride and for those that were up to it (although maybe they didn’t know what they were signing up for! ) it was a chance to twist it a bit and test skills and abilities.

Hatto did an outstanding job as lead. The fact that everyone enjoyed themselves so much is a reflection of that. Thanks again.

The sweeps deserve special mention too. Quite honestly, there are parts I would not have got through if it hadn’t been for them.

Thanks also to Mallee for showing me the way when I was too tired to try and pick a line any more.

All-in-all it was a brilliant day. Met lots of new people and if the many “we’ve got to do this again” comments in the carpark come to fruition it won’t be long before we’re out there having another go at it. :woohoo:

    Bender,

Hopefully we will be getting out on Sunday for a ride too.

We are staying overnight near sussex inlet, so if weather, bikes and bodies are all good, we will do some riding.

Bender, I’ll pm you my mobile number so if you’re up for a ride on Sunday get in touch and I can let you know if we’re heading out.

You might have to fight Kat for it but yes there is a double bed, and you will be sharing a room with Kat.

    Riggs and I are interested.

I definitely wouldn’t be riding but more than happy to help out. Whether it’s as part of the running of the event (KTM_Rules feel free to PM me about this) or as pit crew – I think I could manage to top up fluids and pass tools  You’ll have to ask Riggs about sharing me though, lol

if so is there some tighter stuff to try ;)

Not quite sure which bush we’re talking about now  The focus of the ride will be grade 2 – 2.5 however we do have a couple of leads so there may be an option to split the group to cater for different riding levels.

Riggs and I are in a team with a couple of girls I know down that way.

Poor Riggs – we’re called the Gumbies and he’s got to ride with 3 girls!!

Looking forward to catching up with some OBTs down there.
