Rigs and I will be there on the Sunday. Rigs went last year and said it was great. Looking forward to it! If anyone else is going would be good to catch up and put some faces to names. :-)

Hang in there Hatto :) We all appreciate the effort you’re putting in.

Will be keen to see what you can line up for next year.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but what is a Pony Express?

I’ve been thinking about sunglasses with foam around the lens for the dusty days (seen them in Cycletorque)

Slightly off Kat’s original topic, but I’ve got the Ugly Fish glasses which can have a prescription lens insert, have foam around the frame and 3 colours of outer lens. I use them instead of goggles and think they’re great – don’t have any issues with dust.

Only thing I don’t like about them is if you use the lighter colour outer lenses (yellow and clear for me but from memory there were other choices) with the inner prescription lens you really do look like an ugly fish!!

Kat you know I’ve got the Zeuss and Rigs has one too. I haven’t had any other ADV helmet so can’t really compare but I’ve been pretty happy with it and think they’re good value for money.

As with anything that is dual purpose – it’s a compromise in some way. Perhaps noiser than a road helmet, and heavier than an MX helmet, but personally I think that’s what would suit the ride you’ve got coming up best.

Happy for you to give mine a test when we get together next :)

Rigs and I have got the perfect set up – we both ride!! So no need to seek permission, leave pass etc etc. Just say “there’s a ride coming up” and the answer is always “yes” – woohoo!!!

So men, get your girls riding and we’ll all be happy, lol.

Rigs and I could be up for this on the 29th. How much tar/dirt is there? How much does this route vary from the one you did last week?

    Cheers,

    Cathi

    Hi All
I need some feedback here guy/gals about this ride.(now before anyone takes offence, I am just after feedback/answers)

I’m having a hard time with this situation

We have posted up a ride for the high country looking for expressions of interest, we get alot of positive feedback with 35-40 replies (count me in/extremely keen)

So we organise it, and now we only have 13 replies total(both for and against)so I am trying to find out why.

Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ???

Is it the cost of the ride ???

Is it the weekend availability ???

Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)???

We want some discussion on this, because if we don’t know the reasons behind, than we can’t address in the future.

A lot of time and effort goes into organising these things, and on this one we have tentative bookings for accom, meals etc, because we thought we would easily get the numbers based on the responses received, now it looks like it’s not going to happen and I hate leading people along and then cancelling out.

So please tell me your thoughts(good bad whatever) again it’s not having a go at anybody, we just don’t want to make the same mistakes when organising again in the future.

    Don’t be shy, be truthful

    cheers hatto

    Hi Hatto,

I’ve looked at this ride many times and gave it a lot of thought as am always keen to ride, especially somewhere new, and would have been a good chance to meet some Old Bulls.

Ultimately the decision was not to go though which was largely made on the basis of the cost and duration. I just felt that the cost was a bit high for 2 days riding and 1 nights accommodation. Especially when there would be two of us going. I notice that it can now include the Friday night accommodation which is a great idea. Unfortunately not enough to change the situation for us though, $1000 for a weekend – just too much I’m afraid.

I know only too well how challengning it is to organise things, especially something of this magnitude, and to get people to commit so thank you for the effort you’ve obviously put in and I hope that it still goes ahead. When I read all the stories that will come out of it I know I’ll be wishing we’d been there.

Yep am really looking forward to the rally. Doing the coaching clinic on the Saturday will be a real bonus (especially for me, lol).

Katgirl and I are exchanging emails at the moment about accommodation options so we should be able to give you an update soon.

Will be nice to meet some Old Bulls.
