Well just had a call from TB, they were at the Palmer River look out, no doubt doing the tourist thing( taking heaps of photos ) heading to the Hann River roadhouse for beer and a feed, they should kill this stage easy as, and then on to Musgrave Station for more beer ( I wonder if they will try and do wheelies up and down the airstrip :woohoo:

Just to add a bit more after a day of thought “WE” here at the safety behind our lap tops and iphones have not had the hands on inspection of the said components and “WE” are not the manufacturers dealer trying to keep the supplier happy and customer happy with the proverbial fence palling up ones arse.
I have had customers treated very badly by dealers, thus the rant
Informed opinions are only formed from informed inspections of the failed components.

Its not bike manufacturers that are being difficult to deal with I have seen warranty claims from major earthmoving manufacturers and motor vehicles, previously a lot of these claims were covered in “the old days” when the customer was number one, until everyone realised that this was not doing their bottom line any good, but it was doing their customer base wonders and their “Brand name wonders.
Now they will argue over a cheap “warranty” decision rather than selling units and customer happiness.

I had the oppitunity to do Failure Analysis with Cat in Melbourne (There is Failure 2,3 and 4 I think) and it was any eye opener to see what was covered (and what should not have been covered) because if you do the “CSI” thing and look at the metalurgy test and look at the shapnel under a microscope it is possible to determine the root cause of failure and where it started from i.e from the outside from a knock or from the inside from say a rotating componant and looking at the clutch pressure plate spring bolt, what may appear as simple marks to the naked eye, with a little magnification (even with loupe, thats one of those things the jewelers use) it will show beach marks back to the point of initial failure of the bolt.
Or even looking at the length of the bolt to see if it had been over tensioned (necked)

Don’t give up Moto collect the evidence (photos essential) and get on the net to see if there are multiple failures on other forums etc.
NUMBER ONE RULE…. DO NOT EXPECT PEOPLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING …… THEY WILL ONLY DO WHAT IS EASIEST FOR THEM SELVES.

THIS INCLUDES THE SO CALLED “BEST MATES (SALESMEN) AT THE DEALER.

    Bestr of luck

    No appologies about the rant

When in Nornmanton make sure you have a beer in the Purple Pub,
See if they have caught up and let the black fellas into the front bar or they still have a bar on the outside
It will be an eye opener!!!!!!
Good luck I would have enjoyed this one, to see how much Weipas’ changed would be good.

Thats what would have happened to Crashes XR650 on Micks Birthday ride last year he was lucky he heard the bolt head gouging away at his clutch cover, when we tipped it on its side and had a look, the clutch spring retaining bolt had broken and was happy putting aluminium all through his engine.
End result was a strip down and clean out plus a refresh on a few bits and pieces.
    Best of luck Motto ;)

Hey Mick if you got access to oxy, just use actalene and cover the area with soot, then add oxygen and heat the area watch closely and when the soot just fades or disappears then stop and straighten the item, by doing this you are re anealing the metal see how you go
