If bike shops (or any shops) could contribute any bit of merchandise to raffle off monthly or something of the sorts, i would buy raffle tickets all the time.
Nothing like winning a meat tray for the weekend BBQ!!!Might even make a donation before i go riding on Saturday.
Hey Gili, TB is working with a bike shop at the moment for a monthly prize and also a possible sponsorship deal, the problem with sponsorship deals is we need to support the shops that do help us out, which obviously we have no control over. The shop has a very good service and a great reputation in the industry. We had a thought to put a tin on a table for the big rides and you can put your loose change in after you buy yours and my beers.
The bottom line is we do need to support those that support us otherwise that won’t continue their support.Cheers

Quote:thinking we probably need a $ figure as a minimum donation for the 12 month period, so we dont have some donating 100 and some donating 5
Shirt we all know what the donation is for so i think putting a minimum shouldnt upset anyone.O.K I’ll try and explain best I can, currently the cost of running the site per year is approx $1800.00 this is based on our current usage, which is growing every month, this also includes things such as domain registration, business name registration, banking fees, accountancy fees (KYLIE?) and Rum for our Directors meetings.
We have increased bandwidth this month by over 25%, we are also considering a dedicated Old Bull server which will give us a huge storage capacity for things like photo galleries, screen savers, downloads etc. I don’t think this is anywhere near exorbitant compared to other sites I run which can run up bills of 10’s of thousands of dollars per year. We have through various contacts managed to keep the running expenses very low so far, unfortunately their is only so much we can achieve at reduced costs before we start abusing our contacts who have helped us thus far. We in no way are out to profit from this site but as you can understand nor do we wish to go broke doing it. As we are a registered not for profit club any money left over after expenses needs to be spent on the club, where it be prizes, giveaways, merchandise etc. The prizes we have had so far have been organised mostly By TB grovelling to suppliers for Freebies which he has done an amazing job at and we have established some good relationships from this. Also not to blow my own trumpet but the countless hours put in looking after the technical side of the website is all donated time of my own which I neither expect praise or money for as does TB but is done merely for our own passion of the sport. The whole idea of this site is to make new friends, ride motorbikes (obviously) and have a lot of fun times. The donations are purely voluntarily and in no way do we want to restrict access to the site in anyway. We are not after recouping the costs of the previous year but as the site gets bigger and bigger so do the bills. So donate what you think and we will come up with something shortly.
Cheers and thanks for your support
Chris & TB.
Hey Kylie that’s a great idea, I do that for my donations as does TB, I think a little often you don’t miss but a big donation in 1 hit can hurt the cashflow. And re your PM, THANK YOU. We’ll have to make up some kiddie stickers for their lunchboxes.
Cheers
Chris & TB
Hey Shane would love to go but got other things on, maybe next weekend I’ll get out.
Cheers
Chris. Thanks everyone for your assistance so far, what a great response. I believe that donations will be tax deductible as we are registered as a not for profit club, I will confirm this with the accountant tommorrow. Depending on how we go with donations, I would prefer not to have a yearly membership unless we can come up with some worthwile extras, like a pic of Moto in the shower with each subscription, also the administration of this would be very time consuming. HOWEVER, I strongly would like to have some sort of system that does reward those who have donated and who have assisted this site to grow as much as it has, I have a few ideas to mull over, It may be something like the bull pit that is only open to those members that have donated or your own obt email address or something like that. Please donate what you feel the site is worth to you and how much entertainment and frustration it gives you I think it’s worth donating just to read Menaces Posts. If everybody donated a little we would be sweet. We welcome any ideas anyone may come up with.
Cheers and thanks again
Chris.
Good work Moto what’s the threshold to get “Sex Machine” status. I’m just curious.
Ecks you have my word you will remain an Admiral on OBT as long you keep posting those reports on DBW.
Cheers
CHris. Was that before or after the flash of dazzling light?
