Hey Badfun, appreciate that, especially when our hosting charges have just doubled because we ran out of space on the server where it is hosted.. And I had to increase it by another 500mb, I hate to think what it may be like in another 12 months, now I know why all those popular sites keep whining about how much it costs.

    Everyone “What he said”

    Quoted from elsewhere

The WR250F comes with the gray wire from the CDI connected to ground. All the other 250Fs have this wire disconnected. There are two different maps (spreadsheets) in the WR/YZ bikes. One is for the YZ and is selected if the gray wire isn’t grounded. The other is for the WR and is selected if the gray wire is grounded. With the gray wire connected an alternate ignition-timing map is used. The WRF map retards the timing at the mid and upper RPM so that the bike will run with the stock baffle and throttle limiter installed (see link with actual engine data analysis by TT member McGrath). If you remove the baffle and alter the throttle stop you should also remove the grey wire. Most people do not like the alternate mapping and disconnect it, especially after doing the other free mods. Initially it was advocated to cut the wire, and many riders have. There are disadvantages to cutting the wire. First if you may initially cut the wrong wire. Second, if you decide at a later time to return to the original ignition-timing map it is more difficult. Most now advocate simply disconnecting the wire from the connector and taping it off with electrical tape. For more information about this topic see CDI 101 or the Grey Wire thread in the ThumperTalk archives.

Yeah Ollie I have seen them put a switch in the airbox to switch between the mappings, could be a good thing

O.K recieved pegz from Allen great service, installed them on the WR an easy job even for an amateur, first ride last sunday at sunny corner. What a big difference, the first immediate thing I notice was that I need to move/adjust my feet a lot less, meaning my feet stay on the pegz more which in turn gives more control. The biggest difference I noticed was when standing up, there is so much more control of the rear brake and the gear shifter, I found that I no longer had to keep taking my foot off the peg to adjust the position to use the rear brake or the gear lever. A couple more rides and I think I will never look back, it is a bit weird at first but once you get used to them it makes an amazing difference.

    Hey Mick,

You got a link to that video, I have seen one on the older WR’s but not the 08. Congrats you now pretty much have a YZ250, from what I have researched removing the grey wire changes the CDI mapping to the YZ mapping. Did it give you more power or just quicker acceleration. Can you explain the difference.

290 or 310 About 3 months, the reviews aren’t as positive as jumping the KLX from 250 to 300. I love tinkering because it’s not computers and the last bit well that is just wrong wrong wrong.

Hey Ollie, yeah it is good for the kids, I wouldn’t bother taking my bike there anymore as it’s too depressing riding around in circles all day.. That said there should be more places like pacific and Dave does a good job running the place. Dave has just bought the property next to his as to stop the noise complaints that they were getting and threatening to close him down. Dave is a friend of TB’s Family thats how we know all this. We should support dave and take the kids their more often, just talking about organising a kids day down there, you know BBQ, Beer for the Adults, maybe a camp for the saturday night would be a good social event for the Kiddies.. Would you be interested????????????????????????????????????

Agreed Rat, I saw a 5 year old girl on one at Pacific Park, going around a corner and the whole frame just fell apart, snapped off the dad walking back with forks and wheel in one had and the rest of the bike in the other.

Forgot, I’m also running standard 13/52, spares kit also came with a 14, I would put that on when we do our capertee rides as it is a lot more open than the watagans.

Rider X, the needle that came with the spares kit does not have the clip with it, does the stock one have the clip.

    Cheers
