As all know, I love my DRZ 400,
yes it may be heavyer than the high reving, high maintainence 4 strokes around the same CC, but in all honesty, I do not feel the weight now when I`m in the singles and my bike has more than enough power to handle any thing I can throw at it,
No its not a race bred machine nor is it a enduro weapon, but hey I only want to trail ride on it, not win dakar.!

The maintainence of it is easy, and not a chore after every ride, just throw new tyres and occasionally some sprockets and a chain and Bobs ya uncle

    Horses for courses I say,
There will be the advocates out there for the lighter and faster bikes, and theres the one that say DRZs are useless, but its what I own and I love it.

Take the plunge corey,,you can nick parts off your old mans when his not looking.

    Boony

i have owned one before and i am the one that got the old man hooked on them. i agree with you boony if i was going to be racing or fast stuff. I LOVED my DRZ

What year model Corey, because they do seem to go cheap, don’t seem to hold their value real well, but seem to be fairly bullet proof.
Same motor as the legend kx and has won a few 24hr enduro’s in a row.

    cheers Hatto

they call them an 08 but built in late 07

Payed 5300 for my 07 drz400 and only 2400ks, has had every thing done to it only thing I had to do was the kickstarter, and that is one great handling bike don’t notice the extra weight, and Im not totaly stuffed after a ride.PS you wont get a bite corey wrong bait:laugh:

Yeah but Al you could probably ride an R1 down most trails. The weights not really an issue ntill you drop it (so for me its a big issue)

So Ev are you saying the weight would be a issue for me? gee i feel a little offend lol

Corey I love my DRZ and can’t see any reason to spend the extra cash to trade up to a bike like the KLX. That being said if I had a bike like the KLX/WR I don’t think I would trade back to a DRZ simply to free up some cash. You would have to find a good DRZ that doesn’t need anything done to it to make it worth while. By the time you sell the KLX, find a DRZ and maybe add a couple of things such as bash plates, rad guards and maybe some suspension work you will have to work out how much money you have leftover. Is that going to be enough to make the swap worthwhile.

Cheers scotty and you are dead right if i was to buy one it would have the three big things done and you named all 3.

    Hey Hatto,

I see your point. Don’t get me wrong i think the KLX is the best bike i have ever owned but the DRZ is still one of the best all round bikes around i think.

but yeah just throwing ideas around at the moment

yes the idea would be to sell mine for 7k i would think with the 12.5lt tank and to buy a older DRZ for around the 5k mark.

i would never dream in trying to slow the KLX down lol

I have never ridden a KLX but it is a bike I was considering before I bought the DRZ and still think about changing to.
I bought the 550 Berg for the extra power and lighter weight but it didn’t improve my riding any I don’t think although it does stop and turn better.
Since then I have had the suspension done on the DRZ and while I do miss the extra twist and go power of the Berg (but really only when I am trying to wheelstand the thing), I prefer to ride it now even though I have it geared more for the road . If I wasn’t so lazy I would put the bigger rear sprocket back on it to help ease the loss :D Maybe if I had the suspension done on the Berg it would be a different story but at the moment I find it more fatiguing to ride as it shakes the bejeezes out of me, I do love that power it has though.

I know just what you mean and even though the extra power is good it is not used very often

hey corey… Curious as to what makes the DRZ400 more simple than the KLX?

    cheers…

easier to ride Krusty, more time to react for stuff like logs i find. on the other hand there is a not able power difference but i have not been on a ride that requires any more the a drz for ages and since i only got the old man with what he calls “pace” to deal with i don’t need the extra power LOL

lets watch him bite at that
