Lefty wrote:Hey Crow,
Nice looking ride that you have got there mate. I am currently converting my Kato to do the same, both Adv and Enduro and I was wondering where you get the Hahn cush drive rear hub from and at what sort of approximate cost.Cheers,
LeftyI got it through Glen Hoffman from http://www.dirtbike.com.au for about 900 bucks and still needs disc and sprocket. The talon cush drives aren’t as good as Hahn I found out.
Regarding the Steg Pegz BellingenEv..
I moved mine forward and back to both extremes first testing which end felt better but ended up running them as far back as they would go in the end. That just happened to be perfectpete the wulf wrote:Hey Crow its a sweet looking bike mate, very tidy indeed and the smile on your dile at the end of a days riding is all that matters.
how do you rate the steg pegs mate ?
PTW
Mate glad you ask they are BRILLIANT. Get them. I swear they are the best item for any offroad bike that you spend riding up on the pegs for ANY length of time.
They are so unobtrusive and natural feeling on the bike and save so much leg and arm input its hard to see why they haven’t become a sensation item and the first thing to put on… even before a bashplate.. Brilliant
Nato wrote:Crow going by your profile pic are you struggling with the height of the wr?Na i’m pretty much right on the height I reckon. But then I did fall off just standing still once so who knows.
Bloody good magazine but maybe they just spent too much money on bikes and stuff and blew the shit out of the budget.
Lucky buggerssb_250y wrote:Interesting setup……… Although I’m struggling to see through some of it.300 k’s fuel out of 18.5 litres I wish that could be achieved on mine, the only way I’m able to get near that is cruising at a constant 90kmh, hit singles & 18.5l= 185km.
14/47 gearing is tall for a WR, so is 14/50 as it requires a lot of clutch work in singles, some people I know with WR’s running your gearing are pulling 140k on calibrated speedos, 14/50 will get just over 150 depending on the wind, they just don’t have the power to pull tall gearing, Yamaha speedos are not known for accuracy,13/50 is the go for singles.
Good luck with it, I’m sure you’ve got it sussed
I’ve not fiddled with the carby from purchase delivery and it runs like a dream.
Seriously though i’ve got mine under geared compared to a few other WR450’s on the same setup and they are faster still.I haven’t lost any single line or hard hill climbs gearing in first or second either.. in my opinion this is the most optimal choice for fast trail enduro adventure riding all in one. Try it out. My speed quotes are GPS also
Wheeliworks wrote:Hi to all. I enjoyed riding the Scrapheap with some of you the route down to koziosco was excellent for the bikes & riders.. Look forward to doing a ride on my wr instead of the scrapper.
Ps steve I’ll be in contact next week to get a helmet cam so I can record the fune
Cheers andrewHi mate where you from? I do a bit of riding through those areas
I set it up for trail riding a bit further than 90km loops and wanted to safe guard the engine from longer transport sections.
I like a long day out and leaving from home is more my style than loading up the trailer, leaving, arriving at destination unloading and gearing up, riding a few hours, finding the car again, loading up again and un-gearing, travelling home then unloading, unpacking and washing the bike. The oil capacity is now 2.7 litres
singletrackmind wrote:Looks like you have the perfect ADV setup with the 6hundy. Get a modern Enduro bike and you will have the best of both worlds. Wait and see what the 2011 WR450 looks like. Surely this must be the year.STM
Yeah Yamaha have not put a foot wrong since they started this New Age 4 Stroke game but $13k+ for a dirt bike is insane to me.. You lose 12% value on reciept of ownership.. then throw it up ,off and at everything abrasive you can find in the hope it is better than last years model and you can’t generally even afford to own it out right by the time it’s near ready for a rebuild??!!!
You can buy a Beautiful Vtec V4 full faired 800 brand newie roadie with more metal and high tech from japan for less than any Race ready single cylinder enduro bike is worth in my books and safely clock 200,000km at 200+km/h…Damnit even a new I 30 Hyundai drive away with 2 year unlimited km warranty has more going for it, and for less and I don’t even own a car.. I’d only buy new based on how good they rate on reviews and that comes from used and abused ownership reports after a year or 2 of reviews.
KTM530 08 and up don’t look good at all from all my researching.. CRF 250/450 X models haven’t changed since 08 and still aren’t great reliability wise without big money spent from near new, BMW Husky Berg chuck your hat in the ring based on magazine sponsored ride reports… blaaa blaaa wizz bang. Still got in my way at the Kowen ride too..
Gimme a faithful hot cammed full Yoshi DRZ400 with RMZ front, Ohlins rear and red plastics. And yep there goes 13000 hard earned AU dollars…It’s out totally weighed the pricing for dirt bikes with what you get for your money and support from these machines that we have to trust to get us home from the bush to our homes. And then try to get good honest dealer help when they do break down after buying one new.. Try KTM for fun in my town. BAD !!
I want a reliable long service 450 please>>> No laughing now.So it’s back to 2nd hand older low km models.. Honda XR650 sounds great but my 600 is pretty competitive all bar the big HP. Why not but eh.. Stubborn mood… motard mood
Cranky bull buckin in the pen!!

Yeah really different graphics mate and very appealing to, tough bike and hard to fault with the right mods, very fast and reliable for little money spent.
Loved my DRz’s just weren’t quite long legged enough for my right wrist.. missing one more gear but better than my XR4 in un-modified trim any day. Just hate yellow. I went black on my KLX400 too

a KTM 640 LC4. 😆 😆 :cheer: or as Menace, whom you are yet to virtually meet. calls my bike an Ag4.
i’m at Deniliquin, but when you’re able to throw a leg over again, would like to see if can come over for a ride.

Yeah mate it really should be just crow but different forum users have got in first over the years and I just get confused if I try variations of the same name plus various passwords too.. too much to remember and too shitty at typing quick…
Its a really old net handle too as well a nickname given because i kept stopping to pick up stuff i’d see, that also happened to include bike gear from mates poorly tied racks or just camera’s and radio’s from other unfortunate people.
I’m always spying shiny stuff of interest that often may end up on ebay after a clean up or returned to an owner..
So Cr0w3 is me on ebay , Ozvfrs, Canberrariders, Dirtbikeworld, VRD, ADVrider, and IRC.Found this for a LC4…

.micknmeld wrote:Gday Adam,
Thanks for the intro and as the other guys have said “welcome to OBT”
I had a 2000 model XR600 that I was very happy with ( I sold it and got a XR650) but have to agree with TB, the 650 is so much better again. Get the link sorted for the pic of your Xr as I would like to see it.
Cheers
MickIs it the motor that is what you mean by so much better again, or the whole package set up with Teknic suspension and dampeners, bars and Vortex etc.
I do love the big bull dozer XR mentality of riding through not skipping over, but honestly thats only when I’n not riding a CRF…
Now I have to decide whether to set up a 650 or go for a modern KTM300 as in 08 up or very low km 2009 + KTM – WR450. Plus my 600 needs a fresh top end soonish which adds about 800 bucks to the modern project because it won’t really become a priority if I buy a newer machine and if that fails then i’m back to a tired old faithful XR6 that needed a rebuild years ago plus suspension service

Damnit to much time to think and not enough to ride.xy-transit wrote:Howdy Adam, when my sister was living in Tumbarumba i always wanted to try and see if i could ride from there to the ACT through the forest.
i wasn’t confident enough to have a crack on my own, as at that time i didn’t have a GPS or any idea for that matter.
have you done any riding out that way?
drew.
Yeah not too far away there mate and I love Tumba Wee Tumut riding district.
Man we’re lucky for our location.. such good stuff and as challenging as you wanna make it… GPS is great but you don’t remember much if your watching the digital nav box. I keep GPS for help i’m really lost and low on fuel capers.. we never had GPS not too long ago and only get more lost using them I reckon sometimes… I’m not so good with tech shiz..
Learn by paper maps, google maps, and people resources great but eye sight memory will last a life time over your follow the dot plan and you’ll go back again to check to refresh your memory which is learning and clocking up kays as awell.
I’m off the bikes for a couple of months at least due to post surgery L middle finger tendon repair so I can’t pop over for a visit yet but your not far away at all by main trails… Check in with the DSMRA.. HUGE old bullock resources there mate that lobby for our lifestyle and are about the only real driving force keeping the fanatical Greenie dreadlocked boombarah, uneducated wilderness closure rate at a limited rise. GRRRR…
BTW what you ride mate?
singletrackmind wrote:Hey AdamCheers for the intro and welcome to the sight. That is one sweet looking CRF. What was the maintenance issues you had?
STMNothing unusual just more money in oils and filters than petrol.. plus tyres, bling, bits and busted fun replacement parts.. then valve economics at 1600km and onwards.. you know it if you research them or own one but don’t get me wrong it was a really hot ride and so Red.. but… back to the future for reliable honda
