    Boony,

If you’ve now jinksed this ride (like you have done with every other ride you make a weather comment on), You’ll be frequently wearing simulated meteorite showering at every possible opportunity courtesy of every other rider whilst touring the Coffs Countryside

Niced work TB. People would have to put in mega hours to learn all you’ve devulged in one thorough post.
That’s why your the ‘grand poobar’
    Done once Done proper.
As far as Adventure bikes go……I haven’t seen a fatter looking unit than your Tenere….and you know it’s all about the looks.

Did TB make it out of Victoria in one piece or have Menace and the Vic boys ridden over him and disposed of the XR and rider?

I met Ghostrider just after 5am in a car park between us and threw my bike and all my gear into the trailer and off we went. Got up to Blaxland Maccas to meet TB. He arrived and announced he’ll not be joining us for the ride.
So, we left the obviously disappointed TB to get in to see the Doc and off we went. Next stop….Pine heaven.
We had a terrific trip out and at this stage, we weren’t even thinking of rain!
We arrived and made our introductions, unloaded, set up camp and suited up.
Mal had done a fair bit of homework around the forests and put together a good mix of terrain for the ‘newbies’ to see what was out in the forests when you put in the effort!
So, it was ‘all in’ for the morning ride so everyone could see what sort of tracks were out there. It was really good, all different levels of riders. Some newer fellas got to see what pine singles, fire trails, twin track, rocky up & downhills, creek crossings etc are all about. Gary01 (soon to be renamed THE IRON CHEF , none of this scud business) was doing it a little tough on the TTR – but seemed to be really enjoying himself. Great reliable, light little bike. I think if he through a 2nd headgasket on it and runs it on a straight mix of that shit he was drinking on Saturday night……the thing would overtake the 650 uphill whilst towing the Bowen Bro’s VW…..with bike trailer attached!!!!!
Tom had a cracker of a dismount…..judged to have a difficulty multiplier of 2.5. He sensibily stayed down until his eyes stop rolling like a poker machine and the world stopped spinning. All was fine….a little shaken up, be all OK. Not long afterwards, we ventured back to camp for lunch.

TB motored on in not long after we sat down. We fed ourselves (thanks Mal) and watched TB ride past us a few times, geared up and split into 2 groups. Poor Sam missed out on the quicker ride unfortunately due to a bastard of a front tube that decided to play silly buggers…….but he’ll be there next time to give the old blokes curry on his little crf.

The afternoon ride was a beauty. Between Mal and the Bowens, we got to see heaps at a good pace for all. Rocket and Tryhard sounded like chainsaws when they took on a wet, slippery uphill at one stage. Their persistance paid off. Well done….the only two to attempt it!! (KTM 2 – the rest 0) I’d been on reserve for a while and said to Mal I’d better start heading back soon. So we made our way back to camp. I was happy to call it a day and get organised (and dry) for the night ahead.
True to form, the truely keen and dedicated OB’s amongst us, refueled and went out for another attack. Good on them!

We all cooked our dinners with THE IRON CHEF (aka Gary01), sharing his knowledge of how make our dinners taste even nicer!! Tar
After that, the night deteriorated…….I had my fingers in my ears making la la la la noise.

I think this years Xmas Party was the toothless, six fingered, never spoken about pigeon toed, 2nd cousin of last years Party at Lui….However, those that were there had a great time. It was good to be able to put a face and voice to the new members names/ avatars.

ps. Thanks for all your efforts Mal….it was much appreciated. Great to see Scott and Stuart Bowen again, Adam, Sam and Merv again, Rocket, Tryhard and farmer Bob. Also great to meet Gary01, Rebore & Nathan, Action, Tom, and I can’t forget the most appropriately name OB out there…DUDE! Dude is a Dude…another top OldBull!! It was great to meet you all!!
And finally……THANKS TO SUTTOS for our lucky door prize

Thanks for all your concern, but STM was right it’s just a soft pommie whinging about a little splinter

I had surgery yesturday but the doctor couldn’t get the peice of sleeper out as it was wedged under the tendon ( this explains my slight discomfort on the ride  )

I went to a foot surgeon today who after digging down about an inch managed to get the large peice out. He also had a good scrape around and found 2 more pieces floating around.

Anyway I’m home drinking a beer now and alls good !!

Here’s a pic after the first op!! ( I’ll never foot model again  ! )

Ouch Nickj, well done on not letting it reck your week away!
I did a similar thing once, but woost it and pulled out of the ride.
The body is an amazing thing………if your foot is anything like my shin was, it’ll be pushing little bits of wood and crap to the surface for months/years to come! Glad it didn’t damage the tendon etc.

Hope it mends well (and quick)

Looks like they’ve just got moving again (in the last half hour)

They’ll be travelling North East until they reach the pipeline from Menindee Lakes and then turn South East to follow the service road down to Menindee.

From there, they’re thinking of heading south towards Pooncarie (down near Lake Mungo) If all goes well and everyone is keen they might try and cross the southern border to make the trip a Tri-State ride!

    Time will tell!!

    Bugger all right!!

    Well done Mick and Hatto.

I’ve only just checked the OB site and read what’s been going on. I was listening to some specialist weather guru on the radio this arvo saying that a rarely seen event will occur on Friday, were the very moist air from all the rain they’ve had in Qld will collide with conditions coming from the south and cause it to rain extensively all the way from Tassie to Cape York, especially west of the Great Dividing Ranges!!!!

I was wondering how to tell them about it before tonight!

I’d hate to be TB’s dog or the mouth piece on his communication mic.

    Ring Ring….Ring Ring – TB just rang, it’s 2.16pm.

They rode back to Yunta and waited for Bollocks………as they looked back…they Shut the Road….So I guess it was meant to be. Bollocks only just got out!

Imagine if they were 24 hours ahead………..They would have been stuck on the Strezlecki Track for Days, if not a week or more………Good advertising for OBTrailriders though, as TB and the boys are helicoptered out by an Army Chinook!!!!

They just had a beaut run into Broken Hill which topped a brilliant 2 days (So all has not been lost)Today was a run along a service track and everyone was really crackin’. Through foot high grass, easy flowing/ undulating terrain. Then you’d come across a sandy causeway and drop in and out whilst launching from the exit. Who needs Red Bull to give you wings?

They sound in good spirts again. Having a few beverages and will move on to Silverton this arvo.

That’s it for now, I’ll ring them later tonight.

edit – sorry Mick and NickJ, I was a bit slow in typing this.

Well, TB is talking swahealy again tonight!

They’re having Roo kebabs for dinner.

The Chief cook and driver Bollocks, even though they were on the tar top today…….managed to lose Boulders’ swag!!!

So, apparently, Bollocks has agreed to spoon if it gets too cool tonight :S .

Jeffro flew off one dune today and bottomed out the big Vstrom and bend a footpeg and bolts. So, they drilled them out and replaced the bolts as required.

Slight rain and pretty windy at the moment.

They all sound in great spirits. Covered about 450kms today.

Plan on continuing north tomorrow, meet up with the Strezlecki track, follow through until get level with the corner, then turn east and continue until they reach the ‘yellow bus’ for the nights’ camp, if all goes to plan.

(If you switch your tracker page to satellite and go to the camerons corner, then zoom in, you’ll see a track heading west. This heads out to Merty Merty where the Strez. track goes to….follow along that and you’ll see where someone has plotted the ‘the yellow bus’ – these plotted points can be way way off sometimes, so like wikipedia, don’t take it as gospel that this is exactly where the bus is!, but that’s where they’re headed tomorrow)

    Crash

Nb. probably quicker just to put Camerons corner in ‘fly to’ as destination in Google earth, then look west as mentioned above.

Just got off the phone with TB………

TB Quote……”last night you could of bought a Tenere for a six pack of bundy and a plane ticket”

But after a phone call to one of our brilliant sponsors TEKNIK,…………….. Brad told TB to simply soften the rear suspension and now………..

TB Quote…..”it’s a Dakar performing machine in the sand!”

They’ve just made Yunta, they’ve had a tremendous day, a “golden day”. A day that has had everything you would ever dream that an adventure riding day in the middle of nowhere should have. A squillion sand dunes, flowing tracks, sites you’d never forget and can’t even begin to do justice by explaining.
Lotsa ran out of fuel – flattened his battery trying to start it…..but not a problem in the end.

Bollocks and owl went the black top, but were beaten by the bikes to Yunta.

They’re giving Owl heaps because he wants a motel bed tonight, but everyone else wants to rough it!

That’s from a quick 1-2 minute phone call, I’ll ring later tonight and get some more details.

    Crash

PS looks like Owl lost, the tracker is still moving north, must be looking for a camp site!!!

If you zoom in on Yunta, on the tracker or go to Google Earth and find Yunta South Australia…you’ll see a track heading Northish from there. I think you’ll find they are heading up towards the Flinders Ranges, but should pass on the East side between the Ranges and Lake Frome….then go further north to join the Strezlecki track, then continue further north until they can come east over to the corner! me thinks!

    Welcome Tez,

Sure is a biggin’ you got there!

I think they clocked Schwatz on one of them at Finke one year at over 200kmph!!!!

If your feeling keen…..real keen, you could jump on your beast and head for Yunta…..what’s that….about 5-6 hours! You could meet and introduce yourself to the site owner and a few other totally dedicated adventure riders on their way to Camerons Corner! What do you reckon?
