    Hey TB,

To you think Fish would like me to have a look at that Collarbone of his? You know, just to make sure it’s broken, not dislocated! 😆

    Poor bastard.

Speedy recovery Fish………..things you do for attention ay?

Thanks for taking the time to put all that together Nathan. Much appreciated. I just sit here looking at it with a little Crash sitting on each of my shoulders, one with a pitchfork, one with a halo………..one saying “go on, you know you should do it, you know you want too, your not getting any younger!” The other reeling off all the reasons you shouldn’t!
You don’t make it any easier Gibbit!

Don’t those Quads shit you? When its flat & open, those 700+ cc bad boys just get up & go!

    Thanks again

ps: What’s next? Some of those WA races look alright! Gascoyne etc

And yes that it ground aluminium all over my clutch pressure plate. All the factory riders are doing it.

Oh and don’t forget to add tiny particles of aluminium to your oil either to help prevent it thinning out in this cold weather.

Shall I go all in and dry sump it too?

Still, the bike is 5 weeks old, probably time for a top and bottom rebuild anyway

Ouch Moto, at first I thought you’d hit something with the header & cover damaged!

As Chicken said, my XR had the post fail on the flywheel allowing the bolt to come loose… float out & grind away on the magnesium cover.
Even though they have a paper oil filter, a bottom tank (frame) screen & a rubber edge sealed sump screen – metal still went through the engine & box. I spent days trying to rinse the metal out – it just kept coming. And it hadn’t run for very long.
Insist they pull it right down mate, it’s the only way.

Ps, does your bash plate have wings that stick out to protect the cover & header?

    What about Gibbit!!!!

Down to Finke in 3hrs & 8 minutes.

He started 190th & came in about 157th………..that’s quite a bit of overtaking!

    81 of the 494 starters either couldn’t finish within the 4 hour cut-off or DNF’d/ DNS’d.

    Well done Nathan!!

Thanks Everybody, I appreciate all your kind words & well wishes.

    I had a great Day………………did absolutely nothing!!(sort of)
Slept in, kids delivered breaky in bed before they went to school, received texts/ calls through the day, did a little bit of book/computer work, top lunch, watched a movie, picked the kids up from school, got a prezzy or 2, out for Chinese with the girls (they wouldn’t shout), came home, checked emails & OBT site – read all the nice “happy birthday to Crash” posts, typed this response out, up early tomorrow, so now I’m going to……….

some issues with timing around Bens accident so he may not actually be 14 mins behind.

Fair enough, so maybe Shane & Jake stopped to make sure Ben was OK, so their times may be adjusted to reflect this later on!

If you get some spare time down the track SB, you might be able to put down a few lines about what happened over the weekend. Also, maybe some tips or hints for anybody contemplating having a go at this event in the future. Now you’ve done it a few times, anything you put down might help.

It’s a great event for blokes wanting to challenge themselves both physically & mentally. It’s a terrific race, the terrain is a great mix of flat out paddock/ fenceline runs, up & downhill rocky climbs & descents, bulldust twintrack sections through trees, creekbed runs, weaving bush sections etc – a bit of everything.

    Once again, well done SB

T’was not to be Galey. Ben DNF’d unfortunately, as did his brother Damien.
Todd Smith smashed everyone, beating 2nd placed Shane Diener by over 14 minutes, with Jake Smith a minute behind in 3rd.
OBT’s SB did tremendously well and finished just out of the top 20, in 21st. How good is that?
He was finishing 17th quickest in a few sections which helped him climb through the field.
    There were 42 finishers, with 13 DNF’s

Well done SB…..Persistence & Endurance pays off!

SB looks like he went well yesterday. He was averaging 27th ish through the various timed stages, however on the second last stage, he was 35th, so that dropped his finishing position for the 1st day to 31st.
    A great effort.
Todd Smith is leading Ben Grabham, then David Geeves & Jake Smith.
