Ok, I found this Usi bloke by having an adult search!

here’s the requested and said pics. I have been monikered MacGyver, butcher, plus a few others, but all I can say is, “I might be slow, but damn I’m rough”

Ute loaded up, packed in the dark, by two over anxious almost 40 year olds that haven’t been let off the chain for a long time.

Mr plod, who turned out to be a frickin fantastic human being, I probably owe him a carton too, maybe a do-nut or two.

Usi ?? that’s gone over me head

I have spoken with Mick a couple of times and had the same report! but wanted the patient himself to fill in the details in case I missed anything.

Achilles repair is not to be rushed, my mate who does a lot of 100k runs through the bush (mad bastard) complicated his with an early return.

Blue slipped, green slipped, slipped through rego!

Nick’s work on the springy bits is like night and day to how it used to be. feels like an enduro bike now, not an arm chair with a teeth chattering front end.

Bring on the boys weekend, only two more sleeps!

Tonight I fitted a more substantial battery 2.9ah (HID and 12v socket) and made a bracket instead of using 20 zipties. Webbed tape was not meant to be, but clamping bracket was not quite right.

After the engine re-manlting that finished at 3am yesterday (Sunday) morning, I put the rest of the bike together today, Rolled it out into the driveway and after a few kicks I was greeted with a VERY crisp crack and burble from the Staintune.

Is there a sweeter sound than a freshly rebuilt engine? haven’t heard it in 5 months, so I am a happy camper.

    Blue slip and all sorted

    Wife has a DVD

    Update from the expectant daddy.

Picked up my bits from Teknik, and all is not well. Nick sorted all the boingy bits. I had to find another machinist as Nick’s usual outsource is off for heart bypass. Hope all goes well for him, and back on board soon. Wish him well for me Nick.

On the blower for a bit of the trip back up the coast, and split the job between two shops. They talk the talk, hope they walk the talk, Hypoformance at West Gosford for barrel, and Headworx at Nth Gosford for the top. NOthing too drastic, bore barrel and valve guides, valve seat and valve grind.

What was a nice time frame rebuild, has slipped into a rush job. leant on the two shops and they are ‘keen’ to get em done for a weekend build, and Blue slip next week. Thursday departure.

    Cheers
    Rob

    “snip”

I’m like an expectant father now, pacing the waiting room, waiting on the results!

The bits are in good hands mate , It will be just like a new baby when back together B)

Up every two hours through the night screaming????

Yes, I am pretty comfortable with Nick, I think he may have been bottle fed on old honda oil? He even managed to offload an old ‘dusty’ HRC profile cam to me. So hopefully the baby will have a bit of bark too!

I went looking for the flux capacitor on the piglet.

    20140628_194146.jpg

all I found was the inlet ports, So I had a go at cleaning up some bumps and ridges, and smoothed the bejesus out of the inside radius. I know it’s not perfect, but neither is the rest of the bike!

The forks and shock go off to Nick at Teknik, and will call him Monday to discuss head and barrel work.

I haven’t been aware of the back story, and that is awesome news for the two of you.

It’s great to have a lot of joy after being in a dark hole for a bit isn’t it!

Oh and good luck on the job interview. I was trying to find a little cartoon sketch, but cannot find it, went something like

Probably shouldn’t remember this one for tomorrow!

Interviewer: What do you see as your worst feature or asset
    Job seeker: My honesty
Interviewer: I don’t see that as a bad thing.
Job Seeker: I don’t give a f*ck what you think.

I pulled the head and barrel of the piglet (XR400), ordered valve guides as there was a fair bit of burnt oil on stems, and trying to line up someone to give the barrel a ‘bore n hone’ +0.5mm from Std

Seems the engine machinists on the central coast have dried up. Called Hypoformance at West Gosford, and yet to hear back. What’s the going rate for a single pot bore and hone? I can ship, just adds to the cost I suppose.

    Cheers

yeah, thought the chance of finding an old secondhand one to just plug n play. What’s the minimum required for rego, ie do you need idiot lights???, neutral, indicator, highbeam

    Cheers
