I am a fiddler :S always adjusting things to try and find the optimum settings , I back the steering

dampener off in the tight singles . To be honest the Beta does not really need a dampener as it is

quite stable without , I just had it in the shed so mount it .

I had the Marzzocci forks on my TM450 they are a top fork , you could hit anything with confidence

with no bad habits that I could tell . Maybe I was spoilt with such a good fork but am hoping the Sachs

will be near as good now . The rear end seems OK but if the forks are working a lot better I might have the

    rear shock done as well.

    Hi Guys

After clocking up a few hours on the Beta 300rr the only real issue on an otherwise top package

in my opinion is the Sachs forks :( They work OK on the small stuff but suffer deflection on the sharp

mid to large hits, played around with dampening adjustment with slight improvements but no fix .

Have taken them down to Terry Hay ( Shock Treatment )today for a rework , 4.4 springs fitted and some major work done on the valving .

Will give it a run on the weekend and report back on the forks performance

    Cheers Drewy

    Hi Bowie
I am assuming you are talking about the 660 Tenere ? I fitted Mefo Explorers to mine and thought

they worked great as an allrounder and also seemed to wear well .

    Hi Ian

I heard she was a bit slippery up there on the weekend :pinch: ?

My work mate young Mitch ( ktm 350 six day ) was on the ride , he rides well and makes it look easy

These young fit guys makes me feel really old

Fitted slightly lower bars , problem is they sweep back more than the stock bars which

makes it slightly cramped :( may need to fit the standard bars back on until I can find

a bend similar to the stock bars but a bit flatter ( not sure if you can get them lower )

    Hi Nick

Went on OK but had to modify the scott pin to suit , otherwise all good .

The bars seem a bit high so might fit a set of lower Carmichael bars I have lying around

Your right LC , the more your on the pipe the more fuel you use .

the good thing is the strong bottom end allows you to go reasonably hard without being on the pipe all the time

(Unless you want to roost your mates ) then it makes sence.

Yes they seem to be quite good on the fuel range, I done 60km of mainly 2nd and3rd gear single trail and used

5 litres , so 100 to 120 of general trailriding should be achievable out of the 9.5 litre tank.

    Hi Guys

The damper mount was for a TM which is a fair bit different to what was needed for the Beta
Hole centres and heights were different so I done up a rough sketch and had the machine shop guys at work to machine it up and believe it or not and taking into account my crap drawing it fitted perfectly .

May need to modify slightly when I fit the post , we will see ( I love steering dampers )

    Nato
I have only been out twice but with the changes I made after the first ride the bike performed
great , it steered much more precisely and felt very confident on it ( quality tires makes a big difference )

Having not ridden a 2 stroke since 2008 I am still adapting but sure don’t miss that extra weight .

Next ride will have the steering damper hooked up so can only get better , got to love it .

    Hi Guys

Done some fine tuning after my first ride –

Removed the standard 6 day front and replaced with a Pirreli
set the rear sag at 100 mm , was measuring 112 – 115 mm when settled in
moved the forks up through the tripple clamps around 5mm
fitted steering damper ( had to machine my old mount up to suit ) MSC do not make a mount to suit the Beta , just waiting on the headstock mount from Scotts .
Bike felt awesome after the mods .
