Welcome Ockerstrom, I have been lurking on Stromtroopers for a while and cracked up when I read your thread.

    RETIRED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

    Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban bo th of you from the store.
Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

    1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

    2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute
    Intervals.

    3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

    4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, “Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away.” This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

    5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

    6. August 14: Moved a “CAUTION – WET FLOOR” sign to a carpeted area.

    7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

    8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, “Why can’t you people just leave me alone?” EMTs were called.

    9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

    10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were?

    11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the “Mission Impossible” theme.

    12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his “Madonna look” by using different sizes of funnels.

    13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled “PICK ME! PICK ME!”

    14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed, “OH NO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!”

    And last, but not least:

    15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, “Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.” One of the clerks passed out.

When you insure a vehicle you should insure for what it cost. If you bought it new it would include on road costs. Hard to explain and harder to grasp but understand you aren’t being ripped off :) . In future if you feel hard done by here, insure for $500-$1000 dollars or so more as it would probably only cost $15-$20pa more in premium for a small bike.
You can get a refund on the rego and CTP even though it has been stolen as the insurer notifies the RTA of the fact.
Now on a lighter note how are you going with selecting a new bike?

    in reply to: Stolen #208013

Rego and greenslip are deducted from your payout with all insurers as you get a refund for those from the RTA and CTP insurer. Make sure you get a letter from the RTA to state the rego has been cancelled and present it to your Greenslip insurer for refund processing (up to 4 weeks).

I can see why you are having trouble with the decision. I looked at a DR 650 a couple of weeks ago and they aren’t that big next to the DRZ 250 but the 650 would be a heavy lump in the tight stuff.
I enjoy my 250 ,it copes well with a load on the bag and can maintain 110kph but not much more, it is ok for short trips ie 300klm but beyond that I would want somthing more suitable.
I suppose what I am saying is that if you are happy with shorter trips and single trails then a TTR or the DrZ400 would be the go but if your like me and can see your self wanting to venture further then I would go the 650 or get 2 bikes:) .
I am getting a V-Strom for my longer adventures and will keep the 250 for everything else until such time as i can upgrade it. Steve

in reply to: Seat cover which staple gun? #208226

Well $57 isn’t much for a pneumatic one that works so I might check them out. Cheers

Hmmm, probably would be cheaper to get the local upholsterer to do it but I like to have a crack at things myself and could use a stapler for other things I need to do around the house.
I might try a mechanical stapler from the hardware tomorrow on the seat before I pull the old cover off.
    Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like a likely story :) . Had OWL number plates, Krusty’s?

in reply to: CRF450X bottom end failure #206873

Hi Jimmy, it is hard to get a perspective with those pics. Looking at the crank shaft there has been contact there and the big end fragments have done the chewing of the case.
If the case is not cracked and seal and gasket surfaces unaffected then you might be right but I would have an engineer look at it. Steve

I do need a new quilt cover, Thanks TB :)

Your setup is coming together nicely, I like the tubes. I recently got a Mountain Designs duffel bag for the top gear(self inflating mattress, tent, sleeping bag, chair and a few other bits and bobs.) As good as any bike specific bags that i have seen.

Tent I use is the Macpac micro light, 1.4 kgs and a small package. Waterproof an tough.
In the warmer temps I prefer a Bivvy bag and tarp with a mosquito net. Steve

I use the MSR whisperlite aswell, reliable and can run on any liquid fuel. 350ml lasts 3-4 days using it for 2 cuppa’s per day and dinner. Steve
