SAD DAY

Death of the rider Thomas Bourgin
Motorcycle rider no. 106 Thomas Bourgin (FRA) was the victim of a fatal traffic accident on the link route as he made his way to the start of the day’s special stage.
The accident took place at 08.23 hours local time on the link route on the way up to the Chilean side of the mountain range. The 25-year-old rider collided with a Chilean police car that was travelling in the opposite direction. The exact circumstances of the accident are being subjected to an inquiry.
The rally’s medical teams deployed on the ground were only able to certify the rider’s death, probably instant.
Thomas Bourgin, from Saint Etienne, where he was born on December 23rd 1987, was in 68th place in the overall ranking of his first Dakar. He had realised his passion since 2009 when he took part in the Morocco Rally, followed by a 4th place in the 2011 Africa Race and a 7th place finish in the Tunisia Rally.
The organisers of the Dakar and everyone involved in it express their great sadness to his family and friends and offer their most sincere condolences.
R.I.P mate

During the first week of marriage, they find that they are unable to communicate in the bedroom when they turn off the lights because they can’t see each other using sign language. After several nights of fumbling around and misunderstandings, the wife decides to find a solution. “Honey,” she signs, “Why don’t we agree on some simple signals? For instance, at night, if you want to have sex with me, reach over and squeeze my left breast one time. If you don’t want to have sex, reach over and squeeze my right breast one time. “The husband thinks this is a great idea and signs back to his wife, “Great idea, Now if you want to have sex with ME, reach over and pull on my penis one time. If you don’t want to have sex, reach over and pull on my penis … fifty times”
:woohoo:

I know it`s a Pumpkin, and I think 690

It was an anxious morning from 5.00am after seeing Troy was out in the desert somewhere amongst 30 bikes that hadn`t finished the stage.
Relief when I read from Troy Carpenter that Troy`s wife had been contacted and he was fine but engine had blown

Al need to frequent his pub now to hopefully see him back there next year to complete the business
With some luck his efforts will have been noticed and he will get some more support from a Team again
Great to see Ben still stalking the top 30 :woohoo:

Watching the vid of Andy & gatton struggling brings home the perils of the Dakar
Day 4 and they were toasted, not to mention the 18odd bikes that were already out before that ,,,Epic struggle and determination by Andy to make it to the bivuoac in the dead of night, one determined buger hey

Sad to hear he succumbed next day with the injury, but I reckon it would have been a massive ask to carry on on the bike after the previous stage (13.5 hrs for him I think)He will be back again next year maybe  ,, each year improving on the year before
