May 18, 2011 at 10:19 pm in reply to: Heard a funny story made me think whats a dumb thing you have done #201463When I was a pubescent fledgling , I was a cheeky bastard to my mother one day (well one day out of a few hundred that comes to mind anyway)
She threatened me with the good old “Wooden Spoon”, to which I replied “Go on, I dare ya”,,,,
Then I took off round & round the dividing wall between the Loungeroom & Dining Room with her in chase mode swinging like a mad hatter :laugh:Being a quick little bugger back then, I escaped her final swing & then got away,,, Only to hear her blowing a gasket and yelling “You little bastard, now you are gonna cop it from your father when he gets home” , I felt pretty safe and that it was an idle threat until,,,,,
I snuck back out for a look for the spoon & found it hanging out of the Loungeroom wall, it had gone in handle first, straight thu the Gyprock
Yes, I did cop the spoon when the Old Man got home from work , and some
The good old days hey ???????????

Now I just have to prepare myself to not look like an arse on it next week :S
3 months off a bike is a long haul & I feel sooooo unfit, to even ride a scooter at the moment would be a chore :whistle:I think the key will be to take it nice & slow & just enjoy myself
Can`t wait, 3 more sleeps

Funeral friday ???? Two in one week is a tough run mate
Krusty wrote:Looks really nice Eags.. Curious to hear why you went with that particular model? I have secretly wanted one as an adventure bike for awhile now..Although if ever allowed to have a second one would most likely be DR650..
Here goes, I will try to put it in words,
I have been test riding other brands & models since Louee XMAS PARTY a couple of yrs back, as the KLX was only to have a limited life & purpose to serve.
Really thought I had settled on a Tenere as I had been eyeing them off since they were released. Having ridden TB`s a couple of times, each time with slightly different setup, I was won on them & it was the target to aim for.
But, then after a couple of trips with MickP, Tryhard & Nick`s pommy mate I had a new target:evil:Wanted to spoil myself after a few years of a rather limited machine (Super Commuter) which served me extremely well actually (I still miss the little sucker)
I also had a rethink on the overall bulk of the Ten, and that I would be limited to only one real style of riding with one of those. TB & Nick have since proved the capabilities of the Ten`s beyond doubt with their recent explorations, but that`s just not for me all the time. I also decided that I wanted to spend up a bit on a good clean machine that could be a ten year ride at least,,, (hope it lives up to that???)By all reports the 690 is not only a very capable adv bike, but a surprising enduro beast, so that should be more than enough to drag me around on all kinds of adventures in the coming years :woohoo:
So a slightly used 690 with a little bit of bling became the top target about 4 months ago, Commuter was sold, $$$ was put away in a safe place etc etc & hey presto here one is
Must add that if I wasn`t in Sydney for the sad occasion on monday(Mal`s funeral), I wouldn`t have probably gone to view this bike at all :whistle:The score on the Touratech racks on ADV the other week also spurred me on to this goal (thanx to Danny & Helen in Tassie for that)
Hope that explains my chain of thought a bit for you Krusty,,,, At the end of the day,,, I just like them & wanted one :woohoo:
Cheers
I am only a possible starter at this stage mate,,,
Now picking up the new steed early sat morning, coming back for the kids sports & then trying to get the family “love job done” ( I have to do it cause they leant me some of the $$$ to secure the steed):whistle:With next weeks 3 dayer already booked in, I might be pushing the limits this week
I am still doing the support role as promised, but the bike will be there too for some dirt time on sat arvo & sunday morning:woohoo:Don`t rule me out just yet though:laugh:
Is that hint out of the closet now ???
Thanx mate,
will call you this weekend about our travel plans for the birthday ride;)Trailboss wrote:See Sutto pop his head up when a sales around   :laugh:Now that I am in the Orange fold, so to speak ,,,,
