Well I have to get myself to the Blackbutt next week to buy Troy a few beers and shake his hand ;)
Second attempt and he has done it, and in 37th place.
Shane Deiner 38th and Allan Roberts 39th,,,
All 3 remaining Aussies got to finish across the finish podium as a team :woohoo:

Message from Stephen “The Bear” Tunley on TZ Facebook,
Makes mention of Suttos backed Troy O`Connor and Mark Davidson and how well Troy is going in the final days of the event,,,
Troy is going well and holding 37th place just ahead of Allan Roberts and Shane Deiner a bit back down the field…

THE BEAR DOES DAKAR: GO TROY!
I just finished a long chat with Aussie rider Troy O’Connor and he’s in good shape. He hit his ribs hard in a dune today and had light strapping and some very good pills from the Polish team!
He has a great team from Suttos and there is a great sense of camaraderie. Mark Davidson is assisting him and his experience adds some additional value, along with ace tuner Max Sullivan.
Troy’s riding a KTM and it’s performing well – there’s no question the 450 RR is a great bike.
It just such a great shame that these blokes don’t get more coverage and sponsorship – their skills, focus and determination shows that real Aussie spirit and with a few more $$$ we could have two or three blokes in the top 20 and from there it’s not too far to being a genuine contender! – Stephen ‘The Bear’ Tunley

February has 28 days , which actual days are you considering Shane ?

I’ll be at Frying pan CK on the Sat of the 2nd weekend , pissed by 4 pm I’d reckon , provided the rains don’t make it a wash out , Frying Pan in Summer can be a total water fest if huey sends her in to batter the BMW crowd with copious amounts of rain .

Looking at my roster I only have one other weekend off work in Feb , so my chances are slim
Fuggin work gets in the way of havin fun toooooo often .

    Hey Al,

First weekend of Feb mate, just to miss the BMW crowd, im sure they are a top bunch of blokes they just take up a lot of room, probably the high concentration of beer related girth

    Hope you can make it

That clashes with the Adv ride up at Wauchope then , I can’t do that because of work , so I miss both :(

I might just be there for the KRR as well AL,,,
Just waiting on the work delivery schedule, I am already out for the nav ride so hoping to make the KR for a gander.

    Cheers

Nice work King & Fuchsy, good report to for a pre run B)

Sure beats my weekend of working in the yard and under the house getting stuff out the front for council pickup (at least I saved a couple of onions not having to visit the local tip)

Even helped the neighbour fell a couple of trees

Looks like Deiner & Roberts have paired up & Troy was 20 odd positions ahead of them both in 32nd after CP1 ;)

Click on the boxes next to the riders and see what waypoint they have cleared, click on the waypoints on the map and it shows positions and times of all thru that point,,,

There was an additional fee the competitors could pay to have there entire track covered for family and associates to follow. Like our Spot trackers I guess

ASO organisers can see every competitors position from the GPS for , safety reasons.

Heres an example from the sup regs that has an hour penalty..

    2) The GPS – Sentinel must be in operation throughout the running of each Stage and must be
connected directly to the battery of the Machine.
The operation of the GPS-Sentinel is the responsibility of the Rider.
If it is noted that the system is not in operation, through the fault of the Rider, the following
    penalties will apply:
1 hour for Riders classified among the first 15 overall, and A.S.O. Elite Riders
