I heard similar a few weeks ago from a guy in Newcastle at work,,
There might be something in it Tez

My 690`s rego is due next week, but I don`t need an inspection again this year :)
I already run DOT approved rubber anyway, blinkers are there etc etc, but the chain guard is never on. Horn and front brake switch were dodgy, but I sorted them out last week (just dirt stuffing them up)

Maybe grab a spare second hand set of tyres that are ok to pass and leave them in the shed year after year
Have you tried another place for the inspection yet ?? Will probably get lucky

Don`t forget to check the first page of the thread guys for updates on the weekend, fuel range between stops and the Breakfast plans etc

Good luck for the remaining Pre running TB & Strucky ;)

Are you speaking from experience mate??

    Nope !!!
It would just look a bit silly and embarrassing having them busting down the shed door looking for you :P

Calls are made first I believe to your contact number to try to find out what is wrong, then the emergency services and you Emargency contacts,,,
Still embarrasing if your just out back in the shed

The custom messages are handy to use on the Spot 2.
    I have stuff like :
    Finished riding for the Day!
I am ok, Mechanical failure, Please bring trailer! (hope to not use that one either)

Mine is a spot 2 and is mounted exactly the same as STM and I have never had a problem with reception or tracking so far.

    Ditto for me,,,

Have ran mine like that ever since I got it and so far good reception tracking and messaging. I tried it up on top of the shoulder as well, but it gets in the way of the helmet from time to time and is a pain in the A to use the buttons

That is the standard Spot 2 holder that comes supplied with the unit.
