I read a story recently on ADV I think where guys activated a Spot for a mate with a broken leg and had a call from the US within 10-20 mins I think (they happened to be near a phone tower and had service) :laugh:
They had just gone into panic mode, activated the spot not realising they had service and all was resolved quickly and no fuss.

The entire Spot site is US based but worldwide coverage and they then divert to the relevant country and state emergency services

Starts with a $600 entry fee for bikes,,
MA Licence, ambo insurance, Health Insurance (all compulsory for entry)
Fuel, food, gear, bike prep stuff.
Plus getting there and back from wherever you reside

We have had a lot of success with SPOT 2`s on here and TB runs a connect as well.
They proved to be super reliable again on the recent Desert run the crew did, Lefty & I were flat out keeping tabs on 3 trackers for the entire 10 days :laugh:

I use mine every time I ride (except to work) :laugh: and have found that the missus never tries to ring me to find out where I am anymore, and that is great Usually dinner is ready just as I arrive home from the multi day runs as well

You two are the first ones that came to mind yesterday as I know both of your stories from recent times :whistle:

This is just what I was talking to you about Ace not so long back, and one of the deciding factors in me pulling the pin on the June 2 Day Nav Ride (I had a feeling something was brewing) It just came earlier than expected !!!

The Birthday ride is still locked in and I hope to do a couple more Nav Rides later in the year

Yeah, tough is right mate…
We have already suffered big losses as a result of the mining slumps and orders suffered ending in an entire section shutting down last year, maintenance contracts are getting thin also and cuts are further inevitable there too.
Our manufacturing section is still waiting for new contracts to be announced (election dramas always seem to be good at holding those off) , but realistically the boat sailed months ago on any hope of carrying on from this one to any new work.

There is roumor that there could be as many as 600 positions to go across the entire group nationally :S (there are a few divisions obviously)
