TBWell in my life I am a lot of things:
1. Father
2. Husband
3. Breadwinner
4. Employer
5. Intelligent!I’ve had enough crashes to know that they hurt. I also have a lot of responsibility so that weighs pretty heavily on me. So that’s where the intelligent part comes in – keeping my head when the temptation is there to go silly-buggers!
Actually, I knew I took this photo for a reason… I forgot – it was actually $6.92 as seen below!
Hmmm… what is it about bike injuries that turns perfectly reasonable people in the medical profession into bike-hating nazi’s? Have you guys also experienced the whole “oh, you hurt yourself riding a motorbike? No need to look after you then, you did this to yourself!” attitude? I had that with a large stack just before Christmas 07. Once I told them I had hit a kangaroo at quite slow speeds they settled down, but it really bothers me! How is a bike injury any different to breaking an ankle while running or for that matter any injury caused by a car crash? Its not like we are all wearing stubbies, wife-basha singlet and double pluggers and riding pit bikes while trying to do FMX tricks!
I was reading this thread on ADV http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264552 and got to the bit where he is in a hospital it bothered me a lot. Scary stuff.
Sorry, threadjack over.
TB, since it is now a ZZ start and at a fairly late hour, I’m pretty keen and the Mrs is OK with it. Chalk me up as a starter please!
Whiterocket, if you want to travel together drop me a line at eric@dohertysmith.com.au and we will see what we can sort out. (I’m in Wellington.)

Chris.Nice one Chris, thanks! I think I’ll go for the Force – mostly because I don’t think there is that much difference and I can save on postage that way! I’ll all for getting the best bang for my buck!

You got gypped mate! I saved a cent and got 5 for $6.98 at Big W today!
As TB said, no PM. I’d like to get you out to Catombal though, in all seriousness! Great little bike park and Mick (the owner) needs all the support he can get to keep the place running. If we get 10 riders or more he’ll open the place, although just before Christmas he did me a favour and we had a group of 6 (+ Mick as leader) run around.
There are some good hillclimbs (and drop-offs!) on there! This is Rubble Hill:
TB, you’ll be pleased to know that the only bike to rock up the hill on the day of these pics was an XR400! Oh, and I think maybe one KTM250f?
Ok, so this hill’s not quite in the league of the videos above, but it’s a fair old hill nonetheless!
Ah, mate, I bet if you came out to Catombal you’d have a crack at Rubble Hill – and probably blitz it too!
I have a set of O’Neil boots and after almost 2 years they still seem OK. My best riding pants are an old set of O’Neils from about 1999 or so, but I know the quality has dropped off since then.
I love Gaerne boots, have used them in the past, but none were available in the shops locally – it was Fox or O’Neil and the Fox versions didn’t fit as well. I can’t complain about the current O’Neil boots but my next set will involve a trip to the big smoke for some Gaerne’s.
Must say, I haven’t seen the problems with O’Neil gear that you blokes are reporting though.

Oh Mick’s face would be gold!I’m having mental images of the commodore wagon pulling up and boxes of loose parts, nuts and bolts being thrown out the back tailgate before she drives off in a cloud of dust! “Oh, by the way, it needs new tyres!” 😆

Quote:I’ve sent 2 emails for work today and had an arguement with an engineer who has been naughty and can’t accept his wrong doings :angry:I’ve done 2 quotes, an identification survey at Mumbil (near Burrendong Dam actually – TB will know the area… *insert sounds of banjos plucking here*), and sent invoices for 2 jobs, on top of my OBT time. I call it multi-tasking!
What did the naughty engineer do?? (I like naughty engineer stories!)
Nah, main street’s the main street mate!
High street indeed!
Actually us surveyors have a lot to answer for in terms of street names! My favourite in town is Gobolion Street… or maybe Montefiores Street, dunno, they both roll off the tongue so well!
So Mick, is the bike in as good a condition now as when you sold it before?
