Ah DRZ’s if they can’t be fixed with a hammer and a bit of number eight fencing wire, they ain’t worth fixing!! (So they say!)

What happened to the rest of the bike?
Why would you break up a perfectly good bike to sell as parts? Surely it would be worth more as a brand new working unit?
Reckon you dodged a bullet there Boony mate. Karma was out for you and when that’s the case you’re best off limiting the weapons it can use against you! Dirt bikes give Karma too much ammo!!
Mick with a head like yours you should wear that all day every day!
Seriously though, you should be right for that level of exposure mate!
True that twobanger!
Still and all, smiles for the dollar it can’t be beat!
No idea about the mod to the forks, I’ll ask someone who might know and if it is true I’ll post it up. The bloody things (WR’s) always seem to have a leak. I agree, it is the upside down forks that cause the problem. I’m still not convinced they are REALLY better than conventional forks. My call is that conventional forks will make a comeback one day!

Quote:went through a bit of that today as well ecks new waterpump seels and bearing and bearings in the back brake pedal that were the same size and oil change its just all dollars but its got to be done . fork seel is leeking to but it can wait give it a feeler gageYep, gave mine a feeler gauge treatment today, but it seemed a bit more serious. Time will tell I suppose.
Still, the springs are just too soft for my fat can, so an upgrade is definately in order. That ride at the pony express I was unable to do the doubles all through the track because I kept bottoming out! Sure, I could lose 20 kilos but there is a reason I am as fat as I am – I’m a lazy bugger!

Moving into the era of the WR now, this was a Clarence ride with JRD leading us around some of the best tracks out there.
Got one of my own ugly mug!
Such beautiful country, even KTM’s don’t detract from the view… too much! Grant tried to toss his over a cliff to make me feel better. It nearly worked too!
JRD and MKB and a reasonable view
Axel & MKB
JRD got one of me showing off my stomach muscles!
I seem to recall being a burnt-out turnout at this stage of the ride!
Gotta have a photo of the dog! And the bike! (Yes there is a difference, you cheeky bastards!)
That might do for tonight!
Some from early 08, taken around Eden on the far south coast of NSW. Some of these made it to the readers photos section of TBAM
Me at Mowarry Point. I can’t tell you how much pain I was in, this was days after a get-off that landed me in Dubbo Base Horse-piddle with cracked ribs, a haematoma on my liver and a suspected collapsed lung!
The banana & JRD’s Gasser
Two pieces of machinery of about the same technological standard…
JRD
Not a top-quality shot, but jeez it was funny – Ekips punched another hole in his Kato!
Towed out with a DRZ.. oh the shame!
Playing with the SLR – photos by Mrs ECKS (and good ones they are too!). Recognise this place Roy??
Me
Axel
Nice shots
Another Louee ride in 08, Mick with his then new WR450
Mark on the senior special test
Mick on the same hill
Waiting in the rain
Sunrise on the way to Louee
Thanks guys, I often struggle to get the image I want with the point and shoot camera. Tends to be a bit of pot luck, particularly for moving targets! The SLR is heaps better, but not to be carried on the trails. Compromise, isn’t that what life is about??
Oh, and Roy, I’m working on it… takes time to earn money but not a lot of time to spend the stuff!!
Here are a few from a trip to Louee in 2008.

JRD waiting for someone at the top of a hill

Come over to the dark side BC…
It is a bit late for April fools isn’t it?
Edit: I can laugh (old before my time perhaps) because my retirement plan for riding involves a saxophone and a V-strom!
