Another video from Saturday…
Just lifted (stole) some photos from the Central West Dirt Bike Rally’s Facebook page (here) for your viewing pleasure:
How’s this for an awesome looking track?
There’s also the motocross track:
Seriously guys, you won’t find a better event to ride next year, this is the pick of the paid rides! Best part is that the proceeds go to a very good cause! (And I get to sweep ride, that’s good too!
)

Ok here’s a video from today as a taste of the trails we rode!
Gotta say I really enjoyed punting the DR-Z 250 around out there! It was great to catch up to guys and have them look behind and then do a double-take and look again as they realised they had been bagged up by a DR-Z 250! One of the other sweeps said he felt like throwing rocks at me because he couldn’t keep up on his TE310 – all on good fun of course!

I’m looking forward to catching up. Actually after the last few weeks I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning to be honest! But not for too long, have to swap to the hill climbing sprocket set on the DRZ and mount up the camera and maybe a LED headlight as backup – we sweeps usually end up coming back in the dark! Oh, and better get some beers on ice!
G’day!
My mountain bike needed a very small amount of mineral oil to top up the brakes. Went to the local shop to buy a top-up kit, but they don’t sell mineral oil! They ended up giving me about 200ml in the bottom of a 1L bottle for $5. More than enough for my purposes – I’d recommend trying that!
Don’t think so mate, but the mineral oil is not hard to find or too expensive. If in doubt try a pushbike shop, most hydraulic brake systems on pushy’s now use mineral oil. Only thing is I’m not sure if you should mix different types of oil, someone else can probably sort that out for you. Just don’t be putting mineral oil in your DOT4 system (or vice versa).

You can’t teach stupid !
I danced around it, but really, my opinion is that there’s no cure for stupid! Disappointed in my poor judgment in hiring this one, but as I said he was genuinely trying, just didn’t have the ability. Proves that good intentions don’t make good outcomes!
Hi guys, seems I have touched a nerve and opened a can of worms. Just to explain my problem with my ex-employee, he was 18, did work experience with me and did genuinely try his best. BUT: he was constantly forgetting instructions, leaving tools behind, damaged equipment and didn’t have the strength, coordination or fitness for a full day of fieldwork. I hoped his computer skills would mean I could use him for CAD drafting, but his problem with taking instructions meant it was quicker if I had someone else do it, or do it myself.
In this case, I think the problem was directly related to this individual’s mental acuity – or lack of it! There is just no way to make someone perform above their limit. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to train someone who is a slow learner. I have suggested to this kid that he try the armed forces, and I believe the discipline will be what he needs.
I have had two other young blokes in the past who both ended up making a go of it and one went right through university, the other is in his third year of uni. Both are scholarship winners.
The ratio of good young (smart, fit & practical) kids to the poor performers is not great.

Had no choice, business was suffering badly, even though I was doing the work of two blokes on the tools.
Best thing I ever did.
The guys I got are hard working, reliable and ridiculously GRATEFUL for the chance I have given them. No attitude, no 15 sick days per year, no taking 4 hours over a job that should take 2. How I was when I came here and worked for my first boss.
Rant over.

You’re lucky, surveyors are much harder to find, and imported ones don’t know squat about surveying as it applies in NSW. At this point I think a semi-retired farmer would be ideal for me, looking into that.
Beers were good, by the way! Band still to come!
Wow, the ghost of Moto past! Hoppy brithday matey! :silly:
