They do nothing for me either bike and if I had them covered for it I would burn them both without blinking (god as my witness)

Bloody hell, that’s saying something!

Not without reason I’d reckon. Definately bike faults TB, obviously?

Silicone spray before riding in muddy conditions will help the mud come off and prevent the worst of sticking. It will attract dust though.

Armourall on seats = bad, mmmmmkay?

+1 on the tyre pressure comment above

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

From a mechanical prespective, very true. And if it is experience with bigger diesels thats even better.

I must say, being Old Bulls I figured we would be a veritable gold mine of info on pies! All good info so far, keep it going! Maybe we can do an Old Bull Australian Tour of Pie Shops!

I’ll volunteer to do the same, I often get to see some odd things on farms! I think the oddest I have seen so far is a Rolls Royce airport fire engine. But it wasn’t a bike, so it didn’t count! :P

Nice work Moto! I’ll let all my 2-stroke mates know to be on the lookout for the 300 on Bikesales.com.au in the next couple of months once you get sick of mixing fuel and having no engine braking!

All the best with your KTM stable!

Far North Queensland is good for mining jobs, but qualifications and experience will be a huge advantage when looking for work anywhere. In my mining experience, the mines usually employ experienced operators not rookies wherever they can. Obvious reasons. There is occasionally an opening driving a haul-pak (dump truck) but you and about half a million others would be lining up for the few positions available.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to try and get some qualifications/experience, start an apprenticeship (and do well at it), work some hours and learn. Get into related fields, like construction – but not residential stuff, look for major civil works like roads, multi-story buildings etc etc. Try companies like Lahey, O’Donnell Hanlon, Richard Crookes Constructions, etc. The money isn’t as huge as mining but it is still pretty good. Once you have a few tickets, some experience and good references, you will almost be a walk-up start in mining work.

In terms of mining work, there are dedicated websites for jobs there (google is your friend). There are also dedicated recruitment agencies who will keep your details on file for a job that is remotely appropriate.

Best of luck with it mate, just bear in mind that 90% of blokes in mining are there for the money, which often makes for a tense workplace. It is not always fun, almost always hard yakka, but the money is there if you put in the hard yards.

Found these in the foyer of the local Toyota dealer. Old BSA’s but other than that I don’t know anything about them. Just looked pretty!

Sounds like you have it (largely) sorted then Moto! Always a bugger to lose info though. We have a heap of backup systems at the office here and even then stuff goes walkabout for no reason occasionally! Bloody ‘puters! Just about to look into yet another redundant system with an upgrade and relocation. B)

The offer is there if you end up with no joy though! :)

Moto, if you need tips on how to destroy a mobile phone I am your man mate!! Just a quick dunking in petrol does the trick nicely! After that the battery problems will just cease to exist!

Good luck with the hard drive recovery. I know a bloke who can work wonders if you can’t get any joy with your guy. Unfortunately with our home PC the drive was fried beyond recovery, complete with several years worth of photos…
