Wellington was windy as hell and the dust was something else (although not as good as Broken Hill!). Got to Orange this morning at 8am and we were treated to gale force winds, rain/mud/dust falling and temps about 5°…. yes, it was unpleasant! Headed to Stuart Town for the next job and it was more of the same. Pulled up stumps by 2pm – just sick of that crap!
The things ya gotta do eh!
Just for everyone’s info, Mrs ECKS is booked in to the private hospital in Dubbo for a C-section on Thursday. This means that I am absolutely not coming to Louee. Sorry – but YEEHAA! I will let you guys know how it all goes. Have a good weekend!
STM, GREAT report, top stuff!

Good point Wikd, and of course that is what I do, but didn’t explain it very clearly I guess.
Whatever the stock suspenders on a DRZ are set up for, it sure as hell wasn’t my fat can!
Mine came last week – thanks mate! I too got a gift, top work!

…that’s the last time I tow you back home!
Thanks all (except skipS!) for the input. I will make a few calls (if I get time) today and let you know how it went.
Thanks Bol, I had Steve on the list to call. How did yours go at the Pony? Any bottoming out on those bloody doubles everywhere?

Nice, couple of leads so far. I hope to get a chance to call these guys in the next few days. Anyone else have any gems of wisdom?

Jeebus Mick, your brain just trolls the gutter don’t it!
The only thing iffy about my experiences involved fire fronts 10m high, broken radios and a firefighting plane. Nothing brokeback about it thanks!

BTW what size are the forks on yours?
BC
No idea to be honest BC, the owners manual tells me that they are “telescopic forks” but I haven’t delved deeper to find any other info.

Cool, thanks TB. They have a great website, very comprehensive. I will definately have a chat with them.

I think they are ledgends for burning off in areas where people visit ie: ride their bikes. , probably save the inevatable from happening anyway. Only takes 1 flicked smoke but from a tired rider and she`s all over rover..Legends indeed! Got a lot of time for the RFS lads, had a few hairy experiences myself on the back of a RFS truck.
If they haven’t Dan, they will. There are a lot of changes planned for a lot of industries. Look out for a new (ridiculously strict) building code for bushfire prone land. Just when they were starting to see common sense too.
Not a huge fan of riding burnt out areas – those dead sticks hurt like a bastard!
How about…

I have never been really fussy about chain lube. Just bung on whatever I have usually. Lately I have tried CRC TAC2 and it was about typical for a chain lube. It is finished so next up will be Belray or something else.
This weekend I found a can of Wurth silicone spray and gave it a try. It goes on clear and dries opaque white with a waxy feel to it. While spinning the wheel to apply it, you could feel the chain etc freeing up nicely. After it dried that freeness remained. The beauty part is that it doesn’t seem at all sticky so no problem with dust. It is yet to be seen how it goes in terms of lasting lubrication, but I figure it can’t be much worse than most chain lubes out at the moment.
That’s my experiment! Not as flash at Blue’s but hey, if it works I’ll be hitting up Wurth for another can or two!
