Boony, you’re kinda right, but also kinda wrong. The WR is lighter as well as faster. I know you are sick of hearing it, but trust me, there is a HUGE difference!

Now, I’m not a DRZ basher, I loved mine and they are a great bike. But, they are heavy, there is no two ways about it. And even more than the amount of weight is the way the DRZ carries its weight, making it feel heavy.

If there is any one advance in new bikes (like the Why Zee) that is ground-breaking, I think it is the way/location the weight is carried. Lower the fuel tank, change the angle of the head, whatever, but they are on to something. Exciting stuff!

Boony, RE the fuel pump, can it be any worse than, say a bulldozer? Rally car? Gas Gas, Husky, Honda, Kawa, etc etc injected bike?

The fuel pump shouldn’t be a problem in any way and I’d suggest it is the least of any concerns!

I like the concept, would love to see it in action – better yet, ride the thing!

From my POV Boony, I would be happy for the organisers to do less but charge less as well. I like a ride to be simple. Turn up, ride, go home. I don’t need the raffle, the catering and so on. Just bring it back to a pure riding experience. Turn up, sign on, get a sticker (if that’s the go), and ride. You want to eat? Sure, there’s a BBQ over there, cook your own snags, or go over to the Rotary tent and buy something. I don’t eat a lot when riding.

Just my opinion. Apparently there is demand for the other crap. smiley-confused005.gif smiley-confused004.gif

Just further to Axel’s first post and my earlier comment that it was too expensive for a 1 day ride.

Given the options I have to ride (ie few and far between, and money is tight) I am better off spending my money on a two or three day ride like, say, DBW9 at Catombal ($115 for 3 days uncatered) or the Zig Zag – Hill End Ride with TB (TB, I’ll personally send you $35 to sort you out for breakfast mate, even though I paid the extra $5 at the time, that was a top weekend!). Another option is something like the Coonabarabran Pony Express (1 day cost me $100 including 1-day licence, also uncatered). It is all about bang for the buck with me.

I am not criticising the organisers of Sunny Corner or the ride – I have been the last two years. But my $150 stays in my overdraft until I see a ride that doesn’t have 900 other blokes on it and cost that much. Next year, if times are better, family commitments slow down a bit and I feel like it, I will consider Sunny Corner again. Then again, I might be better off putting that money towards the OBT Christmas party next year!

You have to realise it is a buyers market and the price being asked by Sunny Corner is reaching the upper limit in my opinion.

    Flame suit on! B)

Great Vid Robo! What’s the track playing in the background? Sounds a lot like Joe Satriani?

Not going to this one. Too expensive and as mentioned before, these tracks are free to ride if you get off your can and go out there any other time of year. Plus I think my brownie points need some building up again, what with new bub on the way and all! B)

Actually the first one was the warm up, but you never get the best stuff on video do ya!?

I’ve had mine on two wheels with the chainy ready to bail out on a steep hill, I’ve belted the crap out of the underside (thank god for sump guards!), I’ve flogged it through some of those bulldozed “tracks” around Burraga… it hasn’t had as hard a life as a mine vehicle, but it has earnt its keep!

Which reminds me of a Hilux in Wambo open cut coal mine where I used to work. Only car I have ever been in where the jesus bar on the dash and the grab bar over the door had the bolts flogged out completely! The bloke I worked with was a shocker for not seeing things – like recently blasted ground – and saying “SHIT, HANG ON MATE!!”

    You goose!

I don’t even have employees at the moment!

I have decided, Puck It! If no bastard is gonna help me, I’ll bloody well do it myself! And that includes flogging the Puck out of MY work vehicles! :woohoo:

To be fair TB, the rides I have used the twin lens system were not wet or foggy, so I guess there is a good chance that they have yet to be truly tested. But you should try anti-fog if you haven’t done so yet. They work bloody well and don’t have the problems of the twin lens goggles.

But, as I said, the problem is not really the goggles but more the glasses. Since I went to anti-fog and twin lens systems the goggles have been as good as I think could be expected.

No mate, my prescription is not suited to contacts. I have great vision with my glasses on, better than a lot of folks without, but my optometrist tells me that contacts would not be as good and I won’t compromise.

I think there has to be a product that can stop glasses fogging, without damaging the anti-glare coating. It is just a matter of tracking it down. The goggles themselves are not such a huge problem, the glasses really are!
