Firstly whatever the new displacement is it’s measured in cubic centillitres which is a volumetric measurement. ‘mls’ isn’t even an engineering unit, I assume you mean ‘ml’ which stands for millilitres. If the bike was indeed 350 ml the piston would be faaarking tiny!
EXC 250F bore and stoke is 76mm x 54.8mm giving a total displacement of 248.6cc
EXC-R 450 bore and stroke is 95mm x 63.4mm giving a dispacement of 449.3ccPlease note the units, there are no ‘mls’ or even ‘ml’ involved
If you put a 450 piston and head on the 250 without changing the stroke you get 388.59cc
If you put a 450 piston and head, new conrods etc, so that the stroke is the same it will be 449.3 just like the other 450’s.
NB:- Values above were based on ’09’ models, older models will have different bores and strokes but the principals are the same.
Volume of a cylinder = Pi x half of bore (radius) squared x stroke (height)
In this case with a 450 head on a 250 = Pi x 47.5 x 47.5 x 54.8 =388cc near enough
SO YA BOTH BLOODY WRONG!
Moto, the difference is the shorter stroke.
Oh Chris, why do you do it? Why do you make me call you Precious???
Its a dirt bike mate, they are meant to get dirty, scratched, bent, broken and ridden! Each scratch on my bike that I have added has its own story, I’d hate to lose that!
Next you’ll be wrapping your helmet in bubble wrap so that it doesn’t get damaged…
Ha! This ride is:
1. OBT
2. ADV (no starters so far)
3. Another site that shall remain nameless (4-6 starters)
4. ECKS (probably the majority – time will tell!)The things I do to make a good ride eh!
I’ll try to make the report a good-un TB, so that you don’t feel too bad about missing possibly the best ride going this weekend!

Quote:um the 450 barrel and piston on the 250 makes 350.to get 450 you’d have to put the 570 big bore kit in it. but i have not done the numbers, i doubt you’d get 450 cc out of it.
you are correct ux-mon ( he he Jamaican eccant)
in 06 i think? a dealer said the 250 t4 through 525 all shared the same engine cases.
so in theory you can bolt on the 525 top end.
hhmmm now the Husaberg is supposed to be the same cases as the 4t exc’s so you could do the 650 berg top end:huh:
See, I didn’t know that so I have learnt something!
This ride is starting to look like it will be bigger than Ben Hur! There are more locals keen to come as well as 4-6 out-of-towners from Canberra. Mototrans, you still in?
G’day! Welcome!

Must admit Blue, I use the good stuff, not the cheap version. Hate the twin throttles!

Quote:Well the tape will work just as well with spray paint or hairspray or whatever. It does make it a crapload easier to take the old ones off. The petrol will do the same as the paint I would have thought, more or less. Its the tape makes the difference at the other end of the grip’s life.

Done deal, I will even drive up to your place to do that
TB
AHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Classic! Karma TB, that’s great! :cheer: :cheer: 😆 😆  😆 😆 :cheer: :cheer:

Therefore I never got my bike back. the bike was uninsured.they lived in the next street.
Yeah, but the real question here Champo is:
How were the drugs man?!?!?!?
Two dogs, bike locked in shed, good neighbours, alarm, propensity toward violence toward theives and a pregnant wife. My bike should be safe! 😆
I hope you used my tried and true method of gluing grips: Warp the bars in insulation tape (one layer only). Swish a small amount of petrol around inside the new grip and slide it on. The petrol melts the inside of the grip and it slides on nice and easy. Leave it to cure for a few hours (the colder it is the longer it will take) then Robert’s your mother’s brother! If you like you can then put some wire on as insurance.
The insulation tape prevents the problem you have just encountered and you can cut the grips off when they are done with.
350? Pfffft, go the whole hog, bolt on a 450, they have a common bottom end I’m told!
AB, have you aprayed some anti-corrosive like WD40 into the chamber while you leave it overnight? Might be a thought to stop surface rust forming? If you are leaving it to drain anyway I mean.
