Yeah Menace you goose! Get some shorty levers with ballends ya tightass!
Sorry, just jumping on Blue’s bandwagon there!
I don’t mind Charley. Seems like a decent bloke and can ride fairly well. Well done Champo!
The new 2-stroke TM has a very adjustable power map I believe. According to those who tried the demo bikes at Catombal you could make the power anything from TM’s version of docile (still not weak by any means) right through to “rip yer arms orf and beat you with the bloody stumps” power.
Not my cup of tea still.

Yup, have been following that thread too, but didn’t think it would be that useful to a buyer really, its pretty specialised. Saw it in the flesh at Condo. It doesn’t look quite as impressive as the pics show, mostly because a lot of the work was done underneath the fairings. The exhaust didn’t look good – but he was not happy with that and it will change. It did finish the event, which is more than a lot of other bikes can say!

Mind you, the petrol bikes will be around a LOOOOONG time yet, so maybe you have a point! Just ease off on the noise, for all our sakes!
I’m not a fan. Parts are reportedly VERY expensive (try $35 for a split pin!). As you mentioned the dealers dribbled on about needing to almost rebuild them at short intervals. I have not heard reports of short piston/cylinder life in the later models though.
They do sound very cool, and get points for exotic-ness (exotica?) but when an XR, CRF, WR, KTM, TE, KLX or other does the job easily with reliability as well… why bother?
Do a search, ADV and DBW will have some info you might like to read.
Here’s a few relevant links for you:

I suggest you should have stopped trying earlier!
Maybe a single hex socket can still get it? (Six faces only in the socket.) Otherwise maybe a stilsons (pipe wrench) or drill a hole through the head, insert a rod as a lever and turn it out that way (like some blokes do to car oil filters!).
Would more beer help?
What did you pay for the ED78 TB?
I have a new Dunlop 756 on – well it was new before last weekend. The rocks at Catombal knocked it around pretty well. 150km of that place is equivalent to 300km of riding most other places I think! Not unimpressed with the grip or wear, but I stand by my previous assertion that the best rear tyre I have ever had was the Maxxis IT on my DRZ400.
The previous rear tyre on my bike was a Dunlop 745. That was also OK, both for wear and grip. They were out of stock when I went back in to replace it so I ended up with the 756.
I hate the tyre debate, I think I’ll just get a Maxxis again and be done with it!
I dunno, its just a different bike. I reckon they will get it sorted out so that we get better performance from the leccy bikes, and battery technology is coming along nicely. Give it time, at the moment it is not practical but eventually we will be riding silent dirty’s. Probably a good thing when you hear the exhausts of some clowns out there…
Makes the eyes water that does! Nasty!

And it`s walking distance, apparently:cheer:Bloody long walk mate! Lue pub is a good couple of k’s from Louee station where the riding is. Unless you guys are staying there anyway (haven’t gone through the whole thread – too much bloody dribble!).
Also, it would have to be pretty dang wet before Tom would close the place, so don’t worry about that one.
Chris, try rolling it back to zero and see if it feels better to ride. I had mine at +1 and rolled them back to 0 and it is a lot better on fast corners – a LOT better! Give it a go!

Yes BC, I noticed that they have finally woken up to it. Shame about the previous 30 years though. We need another Snowy Mountains Scheme or Harbour Bridge or something.
