Powersliding that animal would be like shooting fish in a barrel…. controlling the powerslide however, that’s a different matter! Serious skills!

Thought I recognised a few of those spots as well.. one in particular looks like the entrance to a hidden single I rode recently.

What the hell Bols? You Nundle riders never put up photos in the first post! Have you forgotten the rules?

    Great stuff though!

Oh, and what’s the old saying? “Stuck in Mumma’s crack, break Houses back!” (Or something along those lines!)

Interesting XY. Never really knew the difference between the ologist and the iatrist!

I think the main thing to take from this is to seek help. And if you’re not getting what you need at first, try again until you feel you find the right person.

    I liked this:
Avoid suggesting to the person that they ‘pull their socks up’, this is unhelpful as it is
likely to reinforce their feelings of failure or guilt

    Very true!

Tell you what, these replies and the open admissions here are a tribute to the good people who make up the Old Bull community! Had a pretty dark weekend myself actually, just exhausted from working flat out trying to catch up.

This just showed up in my facebook feed from the Black Dog Institute:

    http://www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/docs/Helpingsomeoneelse.pdf

    Some good advice there.

    Hi ECKS

My brother runs a retirement village development in Dubbo I can ask him if he is happy with his current surveyor if not I can give you his contact details.

I have been slowly getting screwed by my boss over the past 4 months. He made an error on the original costing’s of the building of the retirement village I’ve been working on and let the sales staff give away extras without clients paying for them to keep sale prices down.

When the actual cost were brought to his attention he told the owner it was constructions problem and I have become the scapegoat. It has taken 4 months for them to badger me enough that I resigned on Thursday.

So as I Monday I start all over again as I have before to build up my construction company.
Not a good time to start again but don’t think I ever want to work for a boss again were I can get screwed.

Hope things work out for you ECKS and I’m sure many men go thru hell with the pressure of providing for their families.

    Kevdog

Hi Kev, mate it can’t hurt to ask your brother, thanks heaps!

I don’t envy you having to start afresh, but I know exactly why you can’t work for someone else!! While there are always frustrations and problems, at least you know you are doing it your way – the right way. I’d rather take a hit on a job (price-wise) to get it done right than compromise my standards. Missed out on a fair bit of work for Transgrid in 2010 because of that and don’t regret that one little bit!

Thanks for your thoughts mate, and I hope it works out for you too!

Top job putting yourself out there like that mate, your not alone in this world and there is a lot of people doing it tough and your not the only one to go through depression as you would know…
Never be afraid to call on an Old Bull Ecks your a champ for being honest like you are B)
    Best of luck mate.

You’re spot on there Pete, the feeling of standing alone bearing this huge weight is downright overwhelming at times. Couldn’t think of a nicer bunch of blokes than the Old Bulls to back any one of us who is feeling like the world is getting on top of him

Hang in there ECKS it will come good mate, I will get up there and lend you that WR with a tank of gas shortly as promised.

I’m hanging’ TB, but after a few weeks of this level of stress it occurred to me that I’m not the only one trying to deal with this kind of stuff. I reckon we’re all there for our mates, but a lot of the time we don’t know they are suffering.
Looking forward to taking your little buzz box for a run!! 👿

Good onya Ecks for posting up. I reckon people who go out on their own in Business have huge Kahuna’s I imagine it can be quite stressfull when things are very quite. (I know my old man had his own sawmill and logging company for many years)
Maybe if we set up a Old Bull’s trades and Services Guide ;)
If I need a surveyor Ecks I will look you up (actually have been looking at land) and I would prefer to use an Old Bull if I can.
Hope things pick up for you shortly mate.
    Ollie

Thanks Ollie. I get the shits with people thinking I charge too much or make heaps of money. I’d have been so much better off financially to work for someone else. That’s not what it is about though. I’m proud to have my name on the door and to know that all the work we do is done to my highest standards. I’m here to help people as much as anything else, especially when dealing with councils! A lot of people seem to forget that I’m a human being, not just a “boss”.
Give me a call if you do need some help, mate! You’d be surprised what I can find out in a few minutes on the net!

…Well good idea for the thred any way Ecks, and I sure hope that things pick up for yu mate, and good on yu for puting it out there.
    Cheers Teza.

Thanks for your words Teza, and I hope you find a solution to your problems as well mate! They say that misery loves company, but what they mean is that people sharing the worst stories at low points of their lives can actually help each other!

Good idea for a thread Ecks, we all need a hand or to ghet things off our chest now and then.
The trades and services thread idea sounds like a good one too Ollie.
I was considering starting my own business when my last job ended but as you said, the economy took a downturn with the anouncement of the federal election and the timing just wasn’t right with work opportunities few and far between for fledgling business. That’s why I find myself working here in Indonesia, hopefully by the time I am finished here the industry will have picked up and I will have enough money saved to support myself until the business is profitable.
All the best with your business Ecks, I hope things improve for you soon.
    You too Tezza

Cheers Jeffro. Reckon you made the right decision about your own business, given the timing and current economic status.

Hope for you and your families sake, work picks up real soon Ecks. Its amazing just how much of a difference a steady income can make to ones mental health, as the effects of little or no income are felt by the whole family either directly or indirectly, which then in turn feeds on itself making the situation worse.
I am speaking from experience and still deal with it ;) but if you can keep the lines of communication open with those nearest and dearest to you solutions can be found.
    Cheers James

Good to know James, and I’m sure work will pick up for me. The uncertainty is the killer! It is made worse when you deal with local councils who are actually against development (well, not really, but is seems like that with the bullshit they go on with!).

Again, thanks for letting me wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope this thread is able to help any Old Bulls in tough times!

Hey STM, looks like an awesome bit of kit! What’s the specs on the gearset? Deore XT, 3×8 speed? Remote lockout on the forks and shock? Anything else worth noting?

Yes TB, tried to get it lower but the bits I have limited the choice somewhat! I will mention your feedback to the manufacturers of the pushbike bits and bobs I scrounged! 😆

Spent some time fiddling in the shed tonight with an old headlamp mount and bits of old pushbikes, and I think I may have found a way to mount the camera on my helmet.

I swapped my 2007 DRZ400 for a 2007 WR450F a while back and have not regretted it. I also don’t mind a bit of fire trail or single trail and the WR does both fine. The extra power never goes astray and the easier stopping and turning saves a ton of energy. I swapped with Bigger Al at nundle one day getting back on a DRZ and the difference in the singles going back to back was huge. By the end of the next single I was huffing and puffing more than I had been all day and couldn’t wait together back on the WR.

Ah, see, first-hand experience! I went from a DRZ400 to a WR250F so know what you mean (the WR250F had very similar power to the DRZ400). I’ve not spent any real time on a 450… think I’ll have to rectify that!
