Lordy lordy lordy, have we started to think about names?? Bloody hell, its an ongoing controversy! Worse still, we know the sex of the bub due to the amnio so we can seriously get into it! I just hope that we can sort it out shortly and be bloody well done with it!
Thanks JRD, we’ll have to have a drink and discuss this further on the weekend!
Bloody pollies are monkeys, couldn’t manage their way out of a wet paper bag let alone a recession. But hold on to your hats folks, things CAN get worse. More and more businesses are closing down, I’ve been to one of my suppliers this morning for the last time because he has called it quits.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they should have been putting money into infrastructure for years. Just an example, they built a jail here. To get it done, companies from all over the state came to Wellington, there was a factory on the central coast building door frames for a year, another was making precast concrete panels and so on. Things like that DO stimulate economies, not handouts.
All pollies need a kick in the bum!
Well TB, I was made an offer too good to refuse from a mate who also wants to go in the Condo. I was not especially keen to be honest, but he was super keen and offered financial support as well… I mean, he’s coming down from Mackay for goodness sake! How could I refuse!
My bum is already limbering up for the transport sections, of which there was 225km on Day 2 (can’t remember Day 1). As for the speed of the competitive stages – well that’s why this thread is open again. I don’t have to like travelling that fast (but I will like it) I’ll just try not to have a meeting with Mother Earth at silly speeds is all!
I’ll just have to grin and bare it (take that how you will) and enjoy the event for what it is!
Cheers to you all for your thoughts and well wishes! I will forward them to Mrs ECKS and I am sure they will make her day! We had the 20-week ultrasound this morning and the little ECKS-bub was running around in there fit to burst! So much so that Mrs ECKS has to go back later today so that they can finish the measurements and checks.
At this stage the arrival day is completely unknown, and I’ll happily sit this comp out. I’ll chip in for the prize – as long as people are happy with a bumper sticker or two from my business! Maybe I could stretch that to including a free peg… not the clothes type, the surveying type!
I’ll be at Louee if there is any way possible, believe me!
Thanks Rat, I might double check my rear to see if it is indeed a 52 or a 50, then make a call after that. Given the country at Condo (flat for the most part) I think the 250 will pull a 48 without a problem power-wise.
I have the 661’s and aside from the white bits getting filthy skanky dirty and the spine protector being too long, they are a good thing. Might be that I am too short, but I can’t wear the spine protector as it hits my helmet and the seat. Seems to be a common problem though. I figure my camelbak with a tube in it will offer some protection instead.
This thread started off so well too…
All is well, life is hectic that’s all! Stock is 52? I could have sworn mine had 50 stamped on it. Hmmm… If you don’t want the 48 I’ll give you two bob and a pickled egg for it! 4 teeth on the rear would be more of a jump than 1 on the front. That’s a fair change, I’d be interested to see the difference!
I’ll be there all three days – at least that’s the plan at the mo’ Al.
Here’s a tidbit of more info about some of the events planned for the weekend:
Friday – Consistency Sprint
This will be about a 5 minute loop that you will be timed over. You don’t have to be the fastest, just the most consistent. The winner will be the person who can do their second loop as close to their first one as possible. Speedo/timers, etc will be covered in tape!Saturday – Hill Climb for bragging rights!
Also The Flying Fossil will be seeing if anyone is interested in joining him in the MOTOFOS on the MX track.Sunday – Poker run. Complete 5 laps in your own time and you will be a good chance to win a prize.
Out of interest, last year I won a set of tiedowns for the bike, valued at, I dunno, $60? Worth the entry fee I thought, plus the riding I had. Axel got new tyres, oil and all sorts of goodies.

Quote:Thanks Ecks, I’m going to put the 14 on today and do a little test, see how she goes.
When doing 90 now it is revving it’s head off, I would hate to do 50kms pinned with it revving so hard.Cheers
Chris.I’m back! Long story of blood, death, kangaroos, funerals, working silly hours and porridge!
Seriously though, Chris, did you ever play with your gearing other than putting on the 14 tooth front? Just planning for Condo next year and I’ll need a bit more top end speed I think. With the 14/50 combo I have cleared 120km/h but I want a bit more. At the same time of course, I don’t want to lose punch in the lower gears.
Any help appreciated!
Cheers blokes!
Was hoping for that BC, but ended up looking at half nekkid footy players instead… :S
T’was a weird one for sure, but at the moment any job’s a good one, within reason anyway! Still, this will go on the website as an interesting and unique job!
Top username Bollocks! Might have to see if we can’t get a OBT ride together between us lot out here! Where do you ride at Tamworth? Ex-local by the way!
Did the survey yesterday – saw some familiar faces:
Laurie
This lot is the view from the camera position:
I occasionally wondered how it would be done, thinking that it would be calculated from the camera position or something, because it is kind of related to my work. Must be a little bit complex actually, intersecting 3D planes – I never did well on that in uni maths!
Until you see it you can’t grasp the problem I don’t think. This guy at Hattah must have found out the colour of adrenaline! (Brown!!)
I may be off base, it could be setup, tyres or lord knows what else, but this KTM was the only one to do it that I saw.
