    Was waiting for that Men-ace!

My parents have a hazelnut farm, which is where we were staying. Needless to say, mouldy nuts are not hard to find there! Under trees, in the waste piles etc etc. http://www.imlaynuts.com.au

Seriously, that is a known toxin for dogs!

Cheers mate. Apparently a metal drum with a plastic lid isn’t good enough (the plastic lid wasn’t anyway).

If he doesn’t stop biting stuff soon he will be demoted to the garden until further notice. I reckon he’s eaten over $800 worth of my stuff so far! That’s fatal eatings too not partial nibblings

Wait till you get a vet bill… if he keeps eating stuff he shouldn’t it will happen soon enough.

Our Lab ate something while we were on holidays at Eden, we still don’t know what. $1700 later, plus a drive back to Merimbula to pick her up… It was suspected to be snail bait. Could also have been mouldy nuts. Symptoms presented a lot like snakebite.

Things to look out for: Garbage (especially plastic that has been used to wrap food), rotton veges, snail bait or similar, cooked bones and the list goes on.

Be very careful moto, it is not a nice thing to happen, let alone the cost!

I use petrol to clean my filters. I am aware that the filter manufacturers will tell you not to as it degrades the material etc. but I’ve never had an issue with mine and I check the quality of the filter foam every time I oil the filter.

Mick is right, if you have filter oil leaking from your airbox then you have way too much oil on there!

Same here, I use petrol and just keep an eye on the glued joints. Nothing else gets it as clean.

It’s a good choice mate. They are reliable and are mellow, yet have some power when you give it to them. Best mod would be suspension if you’re coming from a 426 :)

    Mellow? Compared to what Moto?

A DRZ can be a balltearer or a soft ride, depending on how you use your right hand! Very forgiving, in that the power is there whenever you want it but never to the point of killing you.

Wouldn’t be any more of a problem on a WRF than on a DRZ I don’t think Scotty. I am 95kg plus gear most of the time (except christmas!) and have no drama with my WRF.

I’ll give you a ride when we get together next if you like – although I warn you that when I was on my DRZ and test rode a WR250F I was never the same afterwards… It was just the weight difference that surprised me. I would still prefer my RG3 suspension that I had on the DRZ but the weight was a killer. And not just “this bike weighs *** kg”, I mean apparent weight while riding it. B)

It’s probably irrelevant anyway Scotty, how many second-hand DRZ’s still have all that crap still on them? Just thought I’d mention it.

If you have a heart problem, lugging a DRZ around would not be my recommended passtime. Its only a factor once they get dropped or stuck somewhere but that is often enough that I’d rule a DRZ out.

Again, just my opinion, and I have owned and loved both bikes. I’m not trying to be nasty, just tell it as I see it.:)

Having had both I can tell you this:

DRZ has more all-out power, no question
WRF still has good power and it is comparable, just doesn’t quite have the legs of the banana.
DRZ is heavy, very heavy in comparison
WRF can be manhandled if need be, a DRZ can be gorilla-handled if need be!
Stock suspension on DRZ is woeful but easily sorted.
Stock suspension on WRF is better but still needs attention to be perfect
    Both have the electric leg!
WRF comes with goodies stock like decent bars, bar pad, is better set up around the speedo/headlight area
DRZ comes with a bucketful of crap that gets removed as soon as it is wheeled out of the showroom like rear mudguard extenders, huge and heavy blinkers, massive mirrors, reflector thingys. The stock handlebars are rubbish.

My DRZ had $650 spent on suspension and afterwards was better to ride than my WRF is with stock suspension – but not by a lot. The power difference is not a problem for the riding I do, the weight difference made a massive difference though.

For $4000 you would get a good DRZ or WRF, I would personally go for a WRF, probably an ’05 or ’06 if you can swing it into the budget. ’07 and later have the alloy frame, but will probably go over budget.

Well, I wouldn’t push my luck if I were you, I only found a sucker willing to pay $50 because he was half brain dead apparently. You might know him, he’s from up your way!

Imagine how someone would feel if they bought these pants off him!!!:woohoo:

I would say get a 250F like a WR250F, or if you’re keen and don’t mind a bit of spanner work, a CRF or KTM250EXCF. Light but still plenty of poke – but not too much, and should fit in the budget you’re aiming for.

Either that or a postie bike!

Trust a salesman at your own peril. LOL But that deal was all above board, no profit involved, not like when ECKS sold them to me.

Hey now, did I not say they would fit a size 38? Ok, so I ordered 34’s and got sent 38’s but didn’t check the size, stupidly assuming they would have sent what I ordered. The pants were exactly as I said, except for the size I thought they were. And as for profit…. You’re never gonna see that dollar I owe you now Mick! Its goooone like the $90 I paid for those pants!

Funny, all the A4DE riders except Axel and Grant were gone by 3:00! They might find it tough to do 4 full days! Catombal would be great training though!
