    Seems like crappy design really. Makes me wonder which little boffin sat down to design it. You could bet ol’ mate has never ridden the bike off-road, if at all! That’s the problem with those design engineers, they don’t usually have to use the product once it is made.

    Disclaimer: That general sweeping statement, of course, does not apply to my brother who designs Jabiru planes… and then flies them himself!

    Yup, Beemer is spot on. DRZ’s have soft springs, rated for about a 75kg rider. At 92kg you’ll soon find the limits of the suspension, and it won’t be pleasant. That’s not to say the bike will be unrideable, just not as capable as it should be.

    I had my DRZ suspension done by Jay Foreman at Foreman Racing in Newcastle. Cost me $650 including postage and made the suspension the best on any bike I have ridden. Plush enough to soak up decent hits but didn’t bottom on – well anything that I threw at it!

    With a DRZ I would say that spending this kind of money on the suspenders is well worth it.

    Working from a shonky memory here TB, based on a show I may have seen going in the background while I was up to serious stuff (like drinking!)… I think they swap as the bloke trots down to the danger zone. As you say, the forces involved would turn ol’ mate into a blob of strawberry jam before he went soaring upwards… The parachute bit at the end is a cut-and-paste for sure.

    I wouldn’t like to see the mess if this had actually been attempted!

    I have never seen it advertised or noticed it as I flicked through the program guide – I have Austar (but don’t pay for the sports channels).
