Moto most MX gloves have a leather palm… either leather or a reasonable imitation anyway.

As you say, in a crash like yours, armour wouldn’t have stopped the injury. I reckon that kind of armour is a bit of overkill myself. :)

I’m moving off 500 posts to answer this thread, so make sure you feel honoured by this!

I find that most motocross gloves are very similar, Fox, Answer, Shift. I have pairs of each – oh and an O’Neal set as well. I like the Fox gloves best but wear all sets regularly with no problems.

The gloves with the reinforced knuckles are a crossover glove and also work fine on the trails, as well as offering that little bit extra protection.

The main problem is, of course, that if you are hitting fingers (or thumbs) hard enough to need armour, there’s a good chance that you’ll be breaking things like bones! Right moto?

Probably one of the more important things a glove will do is stop your palms getting ripped in a fall where you can get your hands down to stop yourself. Take it from me, if you hit the ground with bare hands at a decent speed, it WILL hurt! Good leather palms are a minimum requirement for gloves.

Barkbusters, gloves, elbow guards (either part of armour or separate) – all these things are part of the solution.

But the main differences between most MX gloves will be the graphics and maybe the fit. Buy what fits well, looks good and if you are really concerned, get the ones with knuckle protection as well.

Scotty’s got it! Yeah Al, you can come for one day or two or whatever. If you come on the Sunday you will be able to go in the poker run.

I like the rocks, I’ll be riding the Friday Saturday and Sunday, unless something happens.

I think its not bad value, and last year I won a set of tiedowns, probably worth $50, in the poker run. :)

My mate Axel won two tyres and oil and other goodies. Well and truly paid for his weekend!

Its a fair haul for the Vicco’s and QLD’ers, but there’s a lot of folks coming regardless.

Shame for you to miss that one mate, catch you at Catombal another time!

Any other OBT members who want to come, you don’t have to join DBW, you can just turn up as an “other”!

Mick, you’re getting close, throw in a brand new $100 note and they are yours!

I thought the stockers on my bike were pretty good really, nice and wide and grippy. The main difference being that they don’t pivot! Obviously the Pivots work for the majority of blokes, just that they don’t set my world on fire, and for the money I’d rather have a new tyre and use the change for a couple of cartons!

I’m used to mine now and will keep them on but wouldn’t get them again. I don’t think the coin was worth the difference. Or something. If I can get motivated to swap them back with the stockers they will be up for sale.
