Well I think the screen is there to catch bits when things go really wrong, like, say, a bolt working loose inside and then working its way through the engine, or maybe a circlip might come off a countershaft and have it work loose and flop around, that kind of thing. In normal running it would appear to be dead weight. I’ll still check mine, just not every single oil change.

Use a pump ya wuss!! They actually have some pretty good ones now with double action. Best to spend a little bit more and get a good one than a cheapy.

Yep, either way it is a good reason for deed poll name changes!!

Saw the flattrackers race at Tamworth a few times, its a crazy sport! One bloke had a freaky custom sidecar with a 1100 road bike engine in it that just howled! You have to admire them, its not an easy sport!

Gotta wonder how many police look at that name on the licence when they pull the chap over and slowly reach for their guns…

That’s concerning! I was about to call you a pron king when I thought it might be worth checking what that is… Poor bugger! http://www.lookupanyone.com/namelistings/pron-king-1.html

Well I hate the ED12’s, they give no grip where I ride and who cares how long they last if there’s no grip?! I worked on about 700-1000km on a tyre with the DRZ and it looks like the WR will be similar. That’s not the hugest expense, compared to, say, busted levers, lights, bars, body from a fall that can be attributed to crappy tyres not gripping! I’ve experimented with a few different tyres now, and will go back to a Maxxis IT if I can and the current Dunlop 745 I have is also pretty good although worn in the middle from the Hill End roadwork.

Kenda Carlsbads rip off knobs on rocky ground and to ice that cake they also don’t grip in the hills around here. You don’t want to be trying Fern Gully at Catombal on a Carlsbad. Mick at Catombal uses Kenda Budds Creek rears and swears by them, but I haven’t tried them so couldn’t comment.

Painted Pro Taper bars? Mine are Pro Taper but no paint that I can see, just alloy? I think the problem will be more to do with the earth wire for the brake light switch having a break somewhere. If I could be bothered I might replace the earth wire, but more likely it will stay unplugged until I can get some $$ together and put the bike in to Grandey’s for him to fix. Couldn’t be fagged trying to sort it out myself. As of right now it doesn’t zap me, being unplugged, which is the cheapest “fix” I can do!

I hate that boghole Mal, I stuck the WR in it the other day too, but unlike the mighty banana, the WR was light enough that I could lift it out myself! 😆

Sounds like a good ride, was it dusty? Patto reckons it was surprisingly dusty, especially considering the wet ride we had the previous weekend!

Yeah Mick, they export them worldwide. You can imagine the administration paperwork of dealing with the equivalent of CASA in places like China, Europe and the USA! They have to have a good product to be able to back it up the way they do. I just love that they design and build the whole plane in Bundaberg from scratch! B)

Out of interest, the founders of Jabiru were originally designers and builders of sugar cane harvesters, and just decided to build a plane. It worked so they did more and it grew from there!

They make an 8 cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled engine that weighs just 120kg but puts out 180hp! Their 4 cylinder engine weighs just 60kg and puts out 85hp – that’s probably worth strapping in an XR on a power/weight basis!

Well well well, yet another XR rider! Bloody hell, I reckon the site will have to be renamed shortly! Old XR Trailriders.com!

Still, it could be worse… could be called KTMtalk.com!

Welcome mate, hope you enjoy our company and rock up to some of our rides!

Ah, sorry about that Mick.. I bumped the XR, which then fell onto the others as you know. But on the good side, I did manage to nick off with the alloy throttle tube you were banging on about last week!

When I sell it (anyone want one? Cheap at $149.95!) I’ll get you a replacement for the torn bum bag. Maybe an old shoe? A worn beret? A milk crate?

Actually I reckon it does look quite tasty! Needs to be cooked, obviously, but I could go a half-kilo of prons for lunch!
