    You poor bugger Razzle.

Just get ready for the pain to get worse before its gets better. I broke a rib and I think the pain peaked at about 2 week later. :pinch:

To help me feel better I went out and bought another bike. Couldn’t even load it on the trailer myself, but it made me feel better……… this is otherwise known as retail therapy. I think most normal girls might have bought shoes or a handbag….i went for motorbike number two.

Lets look at this from a practical point of view.

    The blue one……the original :side:
The black one…….PTW rides one so lets say no more
The white one……depending who might be riding one soon, just may be leading the Mardi Gras next year

No no Razz on someone with style on and off the bike it would work well ;)

This might get me kicked out of the A Team, but I like your helmet Mick. If we were to tally the votes you just may lose this TB.
BTW I don’t think Micks Wife selected it, she just paid for it for a Christmas present. Just to set the record straight and join in on the thread. 😆

    Hi Sharpie,

Welcome to OBT. Sounds like you might be very happy here with your bike and planned riding. Great intro BTW.

I’m in the Hunter Valley, and always happy to show people around.

For sure have a look at the Navigational ride series…….you might just get hooked.

    Bloody hell Razzle! :pinch:

When you told me you were hurt, I assessed you as best I could with my basic medical knowledge and experience with pain thresholds and assumed that because you rode a Euro bike you were being a bit precious.

To finish the ride through the last 25kms or so, of what was relatively hard going, is a testament to you mate. If I had of known the true extent of your injuries I would have shown you the easy way out but I didn’t want Amy knowing there was and easy way out. ;)

Here’s hoping you heal up quick.

    Cheers
    Mick

THERE WAS AN EASY WAY OUT!!

I second that……….THERE WAS AN EASY WAY OUT!!. ……..i somewhat remember almost begging for an easy way out.

Razzle, your effort almost puts me to shame. I think the only thing that got me through the last 30km was complaining. You are one tuff man, riding with those injuries and not showing it. If I had known you were injured I would have definitely used you as my ticket out that bush.

I also hate to break it to you (pardon the pun) but ribs are a long time healing. They seem to get worse for the first 3 weeks.

    Hi Oldgirl,

The decision on which bike to get is a tricky one. From your posts on the forum, it kinda looks like you plan to do a mix of riding, both trails and singles through to adventure and a bit of the Navigation Series. Also an important consideration is your experience and riding level (both of which you have already discussed).

For my two bobs worth, I highly Highly HIGHLY recommend a WR250R. This is for a few practical reasons. Firstly you can’t kill these things!! Between the punishments that Steve “Wolfman” Smith, TB and PTW have given Wolfies WR, and it still performs day after day.

I have had mine for a couple years and I have asked it to do everything from the APC to single trails to highway riding and it has done it easily…..except perhaps the single trails (but I do have it set up for adventure riding).

This bike is the ultimate in no fuss maintenance. It has a 40,000km valve clearance check and 10,000km service interval. My ability with the spanners is limited, and even I can maintain this bike. It is a very reliable bike!!! It’s also solidly built, I haven’t managed to break it in any serious way and same for Wolfies WRR.

The WRR is very forgiving for more inexperienced riders and on the flip side, it can easily match the larger adventure machines on the trails we do. The brilliant thing about this bike is that it can change with what you want to do, trust me you will not out grow this bike in 5 years. The only exception to this is if you want to serious single trails, then it might be a bit heavy and tall.

I think you have mentioned they are a little expensive, but for what you get they are not. I think I paid $6500 for mine a bit over 2.5 years ago and it is still going strong and will perfectly suit what I want for a few more years yet.
Every time I think about getting a new bike I can never come up with something that can outperform this bike. OK some of the larger bikes would be great and have more power, but I just can go past the ease of maintenance, reliability and outstanding ability of this small capacity bike.

I live not far from Alyssa, so if you are planning to have a go on her bike I will bring mine along and you can ride it as well. Might be a great comparison of the two WR250’s.

I will second the vote about how good Simon and Lisa’s talk was and shindig Rocks MC put on last night. If anybody has ever thought that it would be good to go away riding for a few years, then this couple can tell you how to do it. They are the ultimate adventure riding team.

Thanks again Rory, Peter and the family (it was clearly a family event).

Strucky, thanks for place to stay last night and the great breakfast this morning, it was wonderful to meet your family. My stomach muscles are sore today…….not sure from all the laughing or the bike ride yesterday.

OMG what a ride, what a weekend!!

Thanks Mick for organising such an amazing weekend. Also Moose, Toes (for sweeping) Puddles for leading the B group and TB for drinks and chocolate (and everything else) and Boony for looking so good on the trails………Eye candy

Importantly the Breakfast was great and a fantastic fundraising effort for the Scrapheap!! Top effort to all who put that on!!

The trails Mick led us on were just amazing and I would never have thought I would attempt what we did let alone actually get through it. The old saying of “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” sums up the ride for me.

As always, the Old Bulls spirit was alive and strong over the weekend. I must have dropped my bike or fallen over at least 20 times (it felt like 50 times :S ) but there was always somebody there to help me pick it up, ride it up a hill or just convince me I could get down the hill. I even managed to almost go over the edge of the track/cliff (that took 5 strong men to retrieve it and stop it from disappearing into oblivion). A very big thanks to all. I was even offered the rock that caused me to spin off the track.

Rach, it was awesome meeting you and even better to watch you fly over the course, you always had a smile on your face and a laugh when we stopped. You rock!!

Mick thanks again for what you put together! OK, so I may have cussed you a little at times yesterday  , but today I’m a better rider for it. As I rode home today I had a smile from ear to ear!!

    Hi Oldgirl.

I have done both courses that Trent and Cass offer and I can’t rave on about them enough. The courses are bloody awesome. Do it Do it Do it if you can!

A word of warning though………..they are physically difficult. Not so much while you are doing it but the next few days and you will see what I mean, but don’t let that stop you, it is one of the best things I have done to improve their riding.

Trent and Cass are really great. Their instruction comes from the heart and they are so patient. All the bikes they use are top notch and the Pacific Park location is great.

You will love this experience. It may seem a little expensive but for what you get it’s NOT.

    Have fun.
