TB…. sometimes its worth keeping your handing busy doing other things
whilst watching someone else do things like push the packing stuff into the muffler canister thingy… lol… I’m glad to hear Chris is helping you out on the hair wax products…… YOU NEED HELP in that department
Kat[/quote]
I don’t think that I want to know that Chris is helping TB wax……..there are salons out there that can do that……

Hi JAK,
My boyfriend has successfully used Champix.
Good luck with it…I know its hard.

I was also able to get in and book a cabin earlier today, so totally count me in….Flying Fish
June 17, 2012 at 11:40 pm in reply to: Old Bull-ette’s (KatGirl & Flying Fish) do APC Rally 2012 #224444OK so I think the chance of me washing the bike in the next few days is slim to remote, so I went and got some photos…dirt and all.
These show the new flight deck without the GPS and spot.
Then with the GPS and spot……not much room left, and I still have to put a 2-way radio on it.
The relocated mirror mount. Don’t want to break the oil reservoir in a fall. Maybe not a likely scenario, but I have seen it happen.
This is the bash plate extension we i.e. Dan made to protect the water hose a little better.
The new (well actually, second hand) FMF exhaust.
The screen mods. For anybody who saw this bike at Sunny Corner the head lights and screen were already on it, but we have shortened and shaped it a bit more.
Finally, a side view……….I’m also still playing with the graphics………….so any suggestions will be considered (except for pink…I don’t do pink!! ). The current stripes were only a result of playing around with some electrical tape (rough and ready I know  ) and after a few Bourbons :silly: .
So before I go get some proper graphic stickers to make this look a bit better, what do you think?
If somebody can come up with a better idea or style I will take it into consideration, no promises though………
Flying Fish
Hi Fish,
It was great meeting you at Sunny Corner, can’t wait to catch up again.
Have a wonderful day :woohoo:

June 17, 2012 at 10:12 pm in reply to: Old Bull-ette’s (KatGirl & Flying Fish) do APC Rally 2012 #224430Wow I had better get into gear and give details of my bikes prep.
Kat you’re a machine with all your work on your bike. BTW, is that three bikes I count in the living room? That’s dedication to have them all in your house!!!
Well my little WR250R has gone through a rather large transformation in the last month or so. Prior to starting to set it up for the APC it was rather a stock standard WRR, but now with a lot of help from my mate Dan, it’s now almost ready. Also Steve from Adventure Moto and TB has provided a huge amount of parts and advice (Steve let me raid one of his old WRR’s for some parts).
So here it is before…….
Then mid way through the work
This is wiring in GPS, heated hand grips and 12V Charger. Also small mods to let it breath a bit better.
Meet the man behind all the work and real preparations on the bike. This is Dan. Lets face it, without him I would be able to get this bike ready in time or I would be paying through the nose for the work.
He has also fabricated a few “ralley ready” modifications, like the mount for the switches and 12V.
This is the full list of things that have either been done to the bike or been added to the bike.
New Handlebars.
Steering Damper.
GPS wiring and Ram mounts.
Spot tracker and Ram mounts.
New headlight (Trail Tech).
New exhaust
Homemade windscreen.
Heated hand grips.
12V charger (for my air mattress).
Re-greased head stock bearings.
Serviced the suspension and raised the front. The guy I bought the bike from was vertically challenged and had lowered front end a bit.
Engine service (valve clearance check).
New front brake line.
New seat.
Pivot Pegz.
New mirrors + changed the connection point (off the from brake master cylinder).
Extension to the bash plate (homemade).I havent got any photos at the moment, as all of this work was only finished on Saturday, then I took it for a ride yesterday and now it’s all muddy. So I will wash it soon and get some more photos.

Happy Camper gourmetLet me try that again

I will get better at this computer stuff soon I hope
Hi TB,
Either great minds think alike or we are both fools  , but I have just ordered a few of these meals to try. I plan to bring them of the APC dial in ride and try the three non-shank meals (meatballs, Stew, and mince/beans). I will be interested in how they pack and the overall impact of carrying slightly bulker meal options. Ofcourse this is all trial and error for the actual APC.
I have tried the dry dehydrated meals and they just don’t do it for me  so hopefully these are a good option.
They should arrive next week, so we will soon see.Flying Fish
Long Live the King!! :woohoo:
Happy Birthday Boll.

Hi Rachael,
Its tops to see yet another woman out riding and looking for riding buddies. As Kat and Alyssa said, it would be great to all get together one day soon and go have some fun on the trails.
You will have a great time, Kat makes us endlessly laugh and Alyssa’s laugh is just so great and is totally infectious
I unfortunately didn’t get to talk to you the other weekend, but you cake was YUMMY.
I look forward to meeting you properly soon, and riding together.Cheers,
Flying FishHi guy’s,
I actually have one of these already and used it last weekend (at the cancelled B’day weekend  ). I purchased it a week before.
My current sleeping bag is more or less a three season sleeping bag (summer/autumn/spring) I think it’s a +5 rating, but I took it to see if the Thermolite Reactor liner did the trick or not. While I didn’t freeze on the Friday night I certainly wasn’t comfortably toasty warm. Actually had a bit of a shiver going on most of the night and was pretty much awake from about 4 am onwards. The next night I used a hot water bottle and was much more comfortable.
Like you TB I wanted to see if my light weight sleeping bag cut the mustard in winter with this liner. Personally it didn’t work for me as successfully as I would have like it to, but I am a born and bred Queenslander and I don’t have a great tolerance for the cold weather. We have to remember I wasn’t frozen to the core in what was rather cold conditions, so overall I do give this the nod. However, I do question the true rating of improving your sleeping bag by up to 15degree , I would suggest more like 5 degrees. The liner is nice to sleep in though, it is a nice material and if space is truly at a premium this is a good idea. I plan to upgrade my sleeping bag for the upcoming APC, and I will be taking my Thermolite liner for the alpine sections.
Cheers,
Flying FishAfter riding several hours over some way cool trails and meeting up with Ace, Eagle and Bones we arrived pumped for the weekend only to hear it was cancelled:ohmy: . O well that was the unfortunate fact of the matter.
Like so many others that had trekked out in the foreboding weather reports we decided to camp the night. After all we had just ridden a big day and it was really the only safe thing:whistle: .As luck would have it the next day I found some other adventure riders that allowed me to follow them to a pub lunch at Hill End. Despite the very wet and cold condition I had an awesome ride. Quite unexpectedlyB) Katgirl was also ridding to the pub and wow did she set a cracking pace for me. After warming up a bit I did my best to keep up with her for a time and I was rewarded with improving my riding abilities in the dodgy conditions.
I also gotta say that I learnt what commitment is, Kat had no water proof gear on and was wet to the core, but she didn’t lose her smile or determination to ride on and enjoy the day. In fact this just seemed to spur her on and ride harder!
Because I had left all my camping gear at the location I camped the night before we decided to return there and camp again. This is where Stephen, Alyssa and Mick greeted us with hot water bottles and post ride drinks and nibbles. Boy do they know how to camp and look after their friends!!!!!At least the organised dinner was able to go ahead, albeit at a different location. The dinner was great. Thanks TB and others for working so hard under trying conditions to ensure the dinner went on almost as planned. The impromptu auction later that night was just so much fun and I was almost overwhelmed with the support Kat and I received for our upcoming APC ride:silly: A massive Thank you to all.
Finally on the Sunday I headed home and rode with Eagle and Bones through the pouring rain, but the whole time I had a smile on my face thinking about a great weekend.
What a great weekend!!!
Flying Fish
Hi Guys,
Well I’m now almost ready, just waiting some clothes to dry in the drier. Then the final bags can go on the little WR and I will be set.
Got the bike fueled, camping gear packed now just gotta calm down so I can get some sleep.Bone and Eagle, thanks for the phone call and the double check that I’m good to go. As per other comments on this thred, I hope you guys know where you are going…i wouldn’t have the foggyist, and I didn’t get my GPS kitted out in time.
Also big thanks to Alyssa and Stephen for grabbing some stuff for me. Bloody work gets in the way a little too much these days. At least this is a good chance to practice packing up my bike with all my gear.
The only thing I’m not sure on is which high heals I should bring, my red ones or blue ones:silly:
See you guys in the morning.
Amy
I’ll second the vote for a great way to spend a Saturday :woohoo:
I feel that the prep for the APC has hit overdrive. To think, only a few weeks ago I was still just (somewhat naively) planning my preparations. But now……I am fairway into it. Without a doubt this is thanks to hooking up with Kat, meeting TB and awesome morning shopping with Steve at Adventure moto.
I ended up with; Wolfman endure pocket, Fender bag, 8L fuel bladder, Klim Jackets, Spot Tracker, Ram Mounts, Steering Damper, some tools, and Pivot Pegz.My WRR has been having all engine checks and suspension adjustments done this week. I pick it up tomorrow, then I can get some cool stuff mounted (all GPS wiring and importantly heated hand grips) and get the fight deck sorted out. Also new brake lines (thanks for the advice TB – I have gone with HEL) and handlebars. So if all goes well it should be ready for a bit of a test run at the OBT Birthday Weekend.
After that I will join Kat, TB and Steve for the final preps and I’m sure a great laugh :silly: . I still have a few things to such as sprockets, chain, brake pads, new helmet etc to sort out.
Kat, I hope you didn’t freeze while you were camping, good to hear your tent stayed up. No laughing when I struggle with mine  . It doesn’t seem so hard until I start to actually do it!
