Have to be honest, I never leave bike gear on the ground just in case that kind of thing happens but have come across many snakes near the bike at times, they call freak me.
Glad that all was noticed quickly and no harm done

Bloody good work and deserving of a major pat on the back (as opposed to the belt on the back of the head that the dad deserved).
Give yourself a nice drink, settle down and think about what you have done ……………….. and realise that you may well have saved an innocent child’s life and you or another motorist a life of torment were they to hit the child.
Seriously mate, fantastic

I ride alone a huge amount so don’t have this problem, although on the rare occasions that I do ride with someone I am usually that far behind that they take sympathy and wait …………………… and wait ………………………… and wait until I catch up.

Sensational thread idea and some great pics that tell their own stories.
Only been on one ride with anyone from OBT so will have to locate some pics and throw them up, but maybe I need to get out more.

Local paper this morning has the poor rider as being from Shoalhaven Heads near Nowra and stated he was on holiday at the time.
The article did include a picture of the bike involved but will not mention the make/model out of respects but if people are concerned feel free to message me and I will forward the info in order to allay the fears

IMO you cannot go past the country hospitality and it is definitely true that you also will not find it in more urban areas.
Whilst I am yet (touch wood) to need such levels of hospitality on the ADV bike I have had occasions where when riding in remote areas on the old roadies I have been ‘checked upon’ by county folk simply because I was stopped in a ‘strange’ place. Generally the check in would always make sure I was fine, have a chat, offer advice on alternate routes, road conditions etc and would always be worthwhile.
You simply cannot beat the bush people in this place
RIP and thoughts to the riders family and friends as well as to the riders who found him as no doubt, they will be questioning, wondering and grieving as well.
But, as to the situation of riding alone I cannot lie as I do it and I fully know the risks involved should something go (heaven forbid) wrong and I do try to take some level of precaution by ensuring that people know the rough area of where I will be and by having ‘check in’ text message times.
As sad as it may be, not everyone has people with whom they can ride at the same time, nor maybe who are available to ride the areas, and then of course there are some who simply love the solitude of the lonesome road warrior.
Again, deepest sympathies and condolences to all involved in this tragedy.

That looks like fun and as is usual once we get away from the cities, looks like some spectacular scenery and locations.
Thanks

A bit sexist so if that offends – do not read on
A good looking man walked into an agent’s office in Hollywood and said “I want to be a movie star.”
Tall, handsome and with experience on Broadway, he had the right credentials.
The agent asked, “What’s your name?” The guy said, “My name is Penis van Lesbian.” The agent said, “Sir, I hate to tell you, but in order to get into Hollywood, you are going to have to change your name.” “I will NOT change my name! The van Lesbian name is centuries old, I will not disrespect my grandfather by changing my name. Not ever.”
The agent said, “Sir, I have worked in Hollywood for years… you will NEVER go far in Hollywood with a name like Penis van Lesbian! I’m telling you, you will HAVE TO change your name or I will not be able to represent you.”
“So be it! I guess we will not do business together” the guy said and he left the agents office.
FIVE YEARS LATER… The agent opens an envelope sent to his office.
Inside the envelope is a letter and a check for $50,000. The agent is awe-struck, who would possibly send him $ 50,000? He reads the letter enclosed…
“Dear Sir, Five years ago, I came into your office wanting to become an actor in Hollywood. You told me I needed to change my name. Determined to make it with my God-given birth name, I refused. You told me I would never make it in Hollywood with a name like Penis van Lesbian. After I left your office, I thought about what you said. I decided you were right. I had to change my name. I had too much pride to return to your office, so I signed with another agent. I would never have made it without changing my name, so the enclosed check is a token of my appreciation. Thank you for your advice. Sincerely, Dick van Dyke.
