Will check with a mate from down that way for you.
He once got us from Nelligen to Larry Mountain Road (which connects with Araluen Road) by some awesome little back trails, creek crossings and hill climbs. Nothing difficult as the bikes were two Weestroms, a g650x and a KTM950 but amazing fun and literally in the middle of nowhere.
Will try to get the track names but we left the Kings Highway just west of Nelligen.

Thanks for that little report.
It is an area that I want to get to and explore but just can’t get myself to head that way, although the Putty is fun, even with knobbies.
May try to get that way later in the year or early next (yes, I do prefer warmer times).
But again, thanks as these type of reports are always great to read and get the mind racing as to why the hell I don’t do it myself

Does it have to be an off-roader?
Give me a Vincent Black Shadow.

You are right TB in that the important thing is the message, but it will take a lot for it to sink in to the average Joe, unless it occurs to them, and I say that from experience.
Some may remember a few years back at Wyoming on the Central Coast an accident that involved a street legal, but race-prepped Nissan GTR, the same model that had won Bathurst with Jim Richards and Mark Skaife. The accident was very high speed on Chamberlain Road and killed three people, including a pregnant girl. Well, one of those killed and the father of the unborn child was my cousin and the accident happened within 1km of my parents and my younger brother who was close to this cousin.
The day after the accident, my brother went to teh scene (again) as part of his grieving. Media and police were present given the gravity of the accident and sibsequent damage, as well as media scrutiny.
Whilst there, my brother personally saw the police book two young drivers and one thirty something for speeds in excess of the limit by greater than 15kmh. All this at a time where media were wandering, police were in marked cars, flowers were beside the road, skidmarks and other debris littered the area.
Because it was not their friend or their loved one, they did not care as it happened to someone else and sadly that continues today and will continue.
The complete converse to that is my son who got his red P plates last year. He drives responsibly at all times according to mates and what we have witnessed, does not speed, has never been stopped by police for anything and gets constantly harrassed and abused by other motorists. He does this not because of my cousin, but because a very close personal friend was killed in a hit and run by a drunk driver. That is what sunk in for him as he did not know my cousin, but he lost a friend.
Sorry, bit of a rant but have seen it happen.

I realise it has probably already been said but with respects I couldn’t be bothered reading the whole thread as IMO these are not the type of posts that I feel we need to see as we all know and recognise that our sport/past-time is dangerous (a rider down thread on a known person can well be different).
First off, those pics have been around for years and were purported to be from Brazil or one of the other South American countries and are not from the Old Pacific Highway or any Australian Road
The bike involved was not what we in Australia would recognise or even call a sportsbike but more of a naked bike.
IMO, inappropriate speed is an issue and yes accidents do happen that sometimes cause horrific injuries and body dismemberment but it is our responsibility in how far we each twist the throttle or stamp the accelerator. But again, I do not think posts of this nature serve any real purpose as it will not teach people to slow down, only when it occurs to a loved on do people learn.
Big congrats to the mods for removing many of these photos as IMO they should not be readily available (posted by link with sufficient warning may be different).

TB, thought the same and actually was watching thinking he would do it on that corner just as he did to Stoner in 07 (but not last lap). To be fair as well, Lorenzo did leave the door slightly open and whilst many wouldn’t take it, Rossi is not one of those many.
Mind you, how bloody crook did Stoner look at the end of it, then teh podium and the interview. Shows how hard those guys are and how hard they have to work

Quote:Here’s another tip…Travel below the speed limit. 10 kays should do it, 20’d be better;)
Has a two-fold effect. Following you at that speed without your knowledge should be quite difficult AND you’ll never get a speeding ticket! :cheer: Sure you’ll piss some people off, but THEY won’t be the ones pinching your bikes!
Don’t ask how I know! mmmkay?
Damn good idea as it would also soon be obvious is people were following you (assumning plenty of overtake opportunites) as they would either stay put or overtake, stop, rejoin, overtake, stop, rejoin etc.
Mind you, I doubt I would have that problems as after all, the might DR is hardly a major theft target (plus my dog would like thieves to death).

Have heard many similar stories from the road racing world as well.
One guy even goes as far as driving upto a good 50 or so kays out of his way, stopping at service stations, Maccas and whereever he can before getting home. He then puts the bike trailer in the garage, removes the bikes one by one and secures them separately and often will then move them the following day (and has done it super early in the morning) to his property.
But, whilst he seems paranoid he has had bikes stolen over the years and just developed this systemm

Whew!
A look at the document linked from teh explorOz site seems to rule out the main tracks as being included in the wilderness area.
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/parks/YengoFactSheet.pdf
Will the proposed wilderness area affect
horseriding and 4WDs?
The proposed wilderness area does not include
significant 4WD and horseriding routes. Road
closures in the recommended wilderness will be
limited to ‘dead end’ trails that receive low levels
of recreation use. The proposed area does not
include any non NPWS roads.
Old Settlers, Yango/Howes Valley, Boree,
Finchley, Prestons and the trail network used by
horseriders in Parr SRA are not proposed for
closure.Does the recommended wilderness area include
Old Settlers Road or Howe’s / Yango Track?
No. The recommended declared wilderness is
divided into three significant areas. One area is
to the north of the Old Settlers Road, another
between the Old Settlers Road and the Howes
Valley Trail/ Yango Track and the third is to the
south of Howes Valley Trail/ Yango Track (north
of the Womerah Range Trail). The wilderness
area borders both roads but does not include
them.Is Big Yango included in the identified or
proposed wilderness area?
No. Areas which were substantially modified and
not capable of being restored were generally
excluded from the identified wilderness. This
included most of Parr State Recreation Area
(generally south/south east of Webbs Creek), the
Big Yango Station within Yengo National Park
(lands NE of Mt Yengo, bounded to the north by
Yango Track) and the valley areas around
Wallabadah and Boree Valley.
Who can I ask if I have more questions?
For further information contact the Yengo Wilderness
Information Line on 4320 4219That to me rules out the likes of Yengo, old Settlers as being included but it was the proposed area, not necessarily the approved area so may need some clarifications although given the frequency of use of those roads I doubt they will be closed.

Have to agree with Eagle guys, good work and feel free to move any of my reports across as they are more adventure type than trail/single track (although occasionally it does get mixed in).
Garry
Please allow me this little indulgent rant.
Damn muther fubbin fools of car drivers who can only do teh speed limit or just over when teh road is straight of there is a bloody overtaking lane.
Yet again today I was stuck behind slowpokes down Macquarie Pass (me and they in car) and was often down to 25kmh around corners. Christ, I even had to hit first gear in my fully sick supremely powerful 1.3 litre Suzuki Cino.
Get to teh bottom where it goes to 100kmh and the same cars speed up to 80kmh on the straight, but wait a corner so they brake and we are back down to 40kmh. Now to explain the corner the advisory sign says 75kmh and it is a quick corner, even my wife takes if at near the advisory, but not these guys.
So we dawdle some more and we get to the dairy which has a nice straight and we are still going 80kmh, so car in front pulls out to overtake as all clear and I follow. Both bloody slowpokes accelerate, not to teh speed limit but beyond and I ended up doing near $1.30 to get in front.
Now there were corners after this straight so over the next 7 or so kays to Albion Park I pulled enough time to stop at the servo, go inside, get a drink and a chocolate, pay and come out before either of the two sloepokes had gone past.
So, my dislike is idiots who can only drive at the speed limit when there are bloody overtake chances.

rant over ……………. deep breath taken ………………. cool beer drunkHave found out that it was the track used two weeks ago for a round of the NSW State XC Mountain Bike series, so it was some hardcore riding going on. Had I have known I may have tried to get up for a closer look as a few mates race MTB at club level and the son of a mate at national level.
But yes, there are plans for future excursions.
Garry
No good at all but glad to hear that all is well relatively speaking and well done to those that could and did assist.
TB, if you need a hand or anything I have plenty of time at the moment so could meet up out that way if needed. Will PM my contact number
Garry
Currently without a job so have time for rides down this way if people are interested and all aligns between job hunting and all.
Just need to bear in mind that I am DR650 mounted so tight single track that requires skill is out.
