The hyde is a great idea and they work. If they could sort out the shovel effect, make installation and removal a little easier and modify it to give track side access to the power valve spring I reckon they would sell lots more. I ran a hyde on my previous 300 which I had for 12 months before it was written off so I have given the hyde a good go. Maybe they should have a CF model?

It is an 08 and despite having a number of war wounds it came up well the pic. I haven’t tested the E Line CF guard yet as I broke 2 fingers shortly after I put it on (as well as the new exhaust system). I did howver run a Pro Line (I think) CF guard on the stock system and it did it job. The Pro Line doesn’t wrap around quite as far as the E Line – still have it if someone wants buy it just PM me – the stock pipe has a number of dessert spoon size dings on the areas that were not cover by the guard but thats about it. The KTM also has pretty good ground clearence. I ran a Hyde for about 300 k when the bike was new but didn’t like it. I know the CF guard isn’t going to stop a pipe getting crushed if the pipe has a decent front impact, but they do deflect the roost and protect from low speed impact, and IMO also look the best out of the bunch. They are a good balance between “show and go”?

I have both but I prefer the all in one convenience of a pressure suits. At teh moment I have an AXO pressure suit. I had a 661 before that but didn’t like the dense foam roost plates preferring solid plastic. The AXO has quality protection components, is well ventiliated, and has detachable elbow/forearm and spine protectors. Quality rating is OK, as I have had to have a few things stitched on it as stitiching came undone, and at 5′ 10″ the spine protector is about 2 inches to long for my liking. I do however tend to wear my Fox Air Cage as its called when it gets hot. That’s my 2 bobs worth. Also my Leatt neck brace fits with both.

    Our crew should be 2 KTM 300, 1 X TM 250 and a new Husaberg 450.
    I’ll keep an eye out.

I appreciate the offer – I have a ride sorted for Saturday morning – just waiting on authorisation from the fun boss – going in at Tobins Rd and heading up to Muirs – I get out about once or twice a month so will definitely hook up with some Old Bulls sooner or later.

14/50 was stock on my 08 but I found it made second and third to tall – I now run 14/52 – it has taken first out of play in most situations but made 2nd and 3rd (tom some exctent) great gears in the really tight stuff and on big hill climbs.

I have a 2008, but I understand its the same donk as the 09. I have the following set up for riding mainly below 1500 ft: –

    Stock needle – NZ2J ( or is it N2ZJ?) – 3rd clip
    Air screw 1.5 turns out
    main 160
    pilot 35

Get about 110 k from a tank, is responsive throughout the rev range, mix at 50:1 (full synthetic).

    Cheers Gidders,
Thanks for the intro, no doubt you will meet some Old Bulls in the near future. Just for the records, how did you find the site?

Mick, a DBWer posted a link to Old Bull Trail Riders in a thread on that site. He was responding to some fellow looking for ride groups.

    Cheers
