Hey Budrow, I have a PC V on my Tenere which has been setup on a Dyno by Fred at Procycle Dyno in Brisbane. Fred run the Power Commander Support service at Serco the Aust Importers of PC products for over 5 years and is highly regarded for his skills. I waited 6 months for Fred to move back from Tassie to have mine setup as one of my good mates that worked with Fred advised me not to use anyone else.
From my experience with the PC V, you can mess with it all you want but your are wasting your time without having it setup on the Dyno. I was in Fred’s Dyno room when he set mine up and the increase, and in some ranges decrease, in fuel trim put into the final map could never be guessed.
When the PC V is setup properly it gives a good increase in torque in the low rpm range that I immediately noticed. Corners where I regulary down changed to pull out of quickly, I could run a higher gear without effort. I honestly cant say I noticed any increase in power higher up but am no longer worried about it running lean when I do rev it out.
Mine was setup on the Dyno with the O2 sensor eliminator attached but I later changed to the O2 Optimisor which has made it even smoother just off idle.
Fuel economy has only increased slightly, more likely due to riding a bit quicker over the time I have had the bike.
IMO your backfiring has little to do with the PC V and is more to do with the AGR system and running AFTM pipes. I run the AGR blanking kit from OTR (Off the Road) and have chucked all the factory AGR sysytem in the bin and plugged the hole in the airbox. A bolt in the rubber line does the same job, but I enjoyed throwing the AGR crap in the bin. They will always backfire a little regardless, most big singles with opened exhausts always seem to, but blanking the AGR system makes a noticable difference.

Is it worth the money? I love my Tenere and cant help messing with things so I would say yes.
My mate Gus reecntly had an opportunity to buy a PC V cheap and get my map to suit his Leo Vince pipes and DNA inlet, Gus reckons it he didn’t need it and couldn’t be bothered.
He is probably right!

Apart fom being pretty dirty per the pic of the wreck jtb supplied, the part was in great knick albeit some scratches to the paint which are pretty normal on any wrecked bike.
The bearings were surpisingly perfect and from the wear marks on the bearing sleeeves I would guestimate the wrecked bike had only done around 5000 klms.
For anyone wanting bits left give Dave at Hills M/C Wreckers a call.
I now also have my new cushdrive hub and bits and plan on hitting the trails for a ride on Sunday. Woohoo!
jtb, in reponse to your question re the mounting of my high front fender in my recent cush drive post.
The fender on my Tenere is from Off the Road in Germany – the fender is actually a Polisport Part called a Free Flow UFX Fender.

If you look in the accessories section on this part you will see a small pic of the rear vented part which shows a red part at the top mounting area of the guard. This piece slides back and forward to give you multiple hole adjustment so the guard will fit nearly all bikes.
I have used 40mm x 3mm aluminium flat sections (Bunnings) cut and drilled to fit on top of the guard at the front and rear mounting points to give it extra strength with some spacers (approx 10mm high and I think they come with the guard from OTR) at the rear to move the guard down so it doesn’t hit the radiator. Underneath I used large washers on the 4 bolts to also provide more strength to the mounting.
I have run the high guard for around 25 000 klms and like it. I never had an issue with the low guard, just didn’t like the look that much.
Touratech use exactly the same Polisport Part in their Tenere guard kit but also provide a better seperate mounting bracket to position the guard perfectly on the Tenere.

Bugger would have been having trailer it home, being able to ride it home was a real bonus.
Bunnings jtb, 7.6mm x 370mm and I also carry 4.8mm x 370mm. The packet they come in fits inside your camelbak bladder area.
I never go on a decent ride without at least 25 of each.
When my headlight support bracket broke through top and bottom in Glen Innes earlier this year, they held everything in place and got me home again.

Mate I couldn’t believe I didn’t hear it and seriously I did not hear a thing. Not just me but the guy chasing me who was right on my arse for 20klms and the 4 other guys we overtook, no one heard anything.
I carefully checked all the work myself and carefully seated the bearings in as well and checked it again after seating the bearings. Nothing was visible at the time but there is always the chance of a hairline crack that went undetected.
I did the mod as I thought it was a great idea and would fix a known poor design issue with the cushdrive on the Tenere.
I copped plenty of sh!t from the other 13 guys on the ride (which I had organised), when I had to head home at lunch on the first day. There’s never a broken down KTM when you need one!
Mate I would love to take up the offer on a spare hub if you have one that you could sell or loan. Happy to pay all freight costs and any fees. Team Moto are saying 2 to 4 weeks but no guarentee and I could not find a used one for love or money.
I would love to go riding sooner.

Below is my recent experience with the cush drive dual bearing mod.
Please note:
My cush drive modification was NOT performed by Teknik and I hold no one but myself responsible for the ensuing damage and accept all responsibility for having given the mod a try.The is only my personal experience and posted for those considering the mod.
My cush drive was modified to the exact specs as noted in TB’s video by a fully qualified mechanic who also has his own extensive mechanical engineering equipment and long experience using it.
As the machining into the hub requires removal of an extra 15mm of the cush hub inner to accomodate the second bearing it leaves the inside bearing retaining surface considerably thinner.
On a recent ride (first one since the mod was performed), the remaining inner cush hub bearing retaining surface broke away from the hub, allowing the hub and sprocket to move over and chew through the swingarm.
You might well think you would hear such a racket, but as I was going pretty hard at it racing a mate for the last 20 klms of windy trail on The Rocky River Road, I didn’t hear a thing. It was only when we got to the bitchy that I noticed some take up noise when changing gears and accelerating.
Upon arrival at the servo in Tenterfield I was rather shocked to see the swingram chewed out and the damage to the hub.
After removing the rear wheel and investigating, the inner bearing retaining surface of the hub was found to be broken away completely.
After cable tieing the cush drive hub to the wheel hub I managed to ride all the way back to Boonah even managing a 100 kph all the way up the Mt Lindsay Rd and riding across White Swamp Rd. A few of the 7.6 mm cable ties broke but enough remained to hold it together till home.
Anyway after now finding a 2nd hand swingarm and sourcing a new genuine hub and attached bits (backorder from Japan), all will be good and I will leave the new cush drive unmodified.
The total bill for the damage will be just under $700, and thanks to Will at Team Moto Moorooka for the discount on new parts.
This post is not aimed at criticising TB, Nik at Teknik or anyone else. I always except all responsibility for any mod I perform on my bikes and learn from the good and bad.
This is just my experience and posted to show what may or may not happen if you perform the mod.

The damaged one could have been fixed if absolutely nec.
A good used one was my first preference.

Fuchsy, if you have room behind your screen go the garmin Montana 650t with the powered rugged mount – ducks nuts of adv gps units.
If you are after something smaller, go the garmin 62s. If you buy the 62s and want cheap garmin topo go to flea bay.
If need advise on gps stuff pm me and I will help you out.

Bet you had to scratch your head for a second to come up with settings and spring weights for a 75kg (dripping wet) rider on a Tenere!

You dont have to remove anything to change the filter skin, just pull the rubber tube to one side and slip the skin in its hoop straight out, change the skin and slip it back under the rubber.
Yeh mate she has spent more of her life on the dirt than on road.
I’m known to be fussy with having clean bikes/cars/house etc.
