Quote:Hello Truthful answer from Scott is the money, I got another expensive ride coming up to Cams corner which makes my decision easy…. and $500 skin plus getting there and other costs is probably cheap but and good value but not to me.Sorry for my honesty, $500 for one nights accommodation is dear, and I would rather follow one of my mates for free, even if we get lost, and stay in a cabin [frozen stiff].
thanks for the reply scott, all the answers help for future planning, no need to be sorry for honesty, thats exactly what i’m after
cheers Hatto
thanks for the reply menace, you must be busy because 2009 was 12 months ago

I need some feedback here guy/gals about this ride.(now before anyone takes offence, I am just after feedback/answers)I’m having a hard time with this situation
We have posted up a ride for the high country looking for expressions of interest, we get alot of positive feedback with 35-40 replies (count me in/extremely keen)
So we organise it, and now we only have 13 replies total(both for and against)so I am trying to find out why.
Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ???
Is it the cost of the ride ???
Is it the weekend availability ???
Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)???
We want some discussion on this, because if we don’t know the reasons behind, than we can’t address in the future.
A lot of time and effort goes into organising these things, and on this one we have tentative bookings for accom, meals etc, because we thought we would easily get the numbers based on the responses received, now it looks like it’s not going to happen and I hate leading people along and then cancelling out.
So please tell me your thoughts(good bad whatever) again it’s not having a go at anybody, we just don’t want to make the same mistakes when organising again in the future.
Don’t be shy, be truthful
cheers hatto
Hi Hatto,
I’ve looked at this ride many times and gave it a lot of thought as am always keen to ride, especially somewhere new, and would have been a good chance to meet some Old Bulls.
Ultimately the decision was not to go though which was largely made on the basis of the cost and duration. I just felt that the cost was a bit high for 2 days riding and 1 nights accommodation. Especially when there would be two of us going. I notice that it can now include the Friday night accommodation which is a great idea. Unfortunately not enough to change the situation for us though, $1000 for a weekend – just too much I’m afraid.
I know only too well how challengning it is to organise things, especially something of this magnitude, and to get people to commit so thank you for the effort you’ve obviously put in and I hope that it still goes ahead. When I read all the stories that will come out of it I know I’ll be wishing we’d been there.
Hi Cathi, thanks for the reply, thats another reply for the cost issue. I enjoy organising rides (or trying to help out others organising them)but this info is very helpful for next time. I’m not in it for praise, I do it because I love to go riding with different people and different places, but as I said it’s no good me organising rides if the people I like to ride with can’t go. For instance, If the feed back tells me that people only want to ride 1 day, not cost to much, and is close to home, than I will organise that type of ride
cheers and thanks

I dont know Hatto I carry a big selection (Ollie I think was impressed by what I carried on me) and I couldn’t help him
Even if I had my trailer kit there (I rode out) I wouldn’t have had one it was strange thread. I reckon it was a cheap set of bar adapters, witworth thread from Aldi
TB
Thats where I got my spare set of bolts from
The ones I carry are from a husky, a mate broke a set on the way to araluen

Hmm it was a case of improvise or dont ride,I decided to improvise
I tried to find a nut that would fit, even tried the one off my utes power steering box.
The fuel situation was a bitch probably because the bike was shared and did more laps than the others. Letting someone else ride my bike is not a case of being tight id say its a case of being generous, unselfish and making sure a fellow trail rider has a good time and not wasted travelling 500 km for nought
carry on Rex
I see you used Beagles KTM cable ties, I know he says green all the way but you can tell but the pretty orange cable ties he keeps in his wagon that he really wants to go to the dark side.
Either that or he will update to his new green meany
This looked like a job for hatto and his trusty tool chest – wish i was there, I have bolts that would fit that ollie
