Part 2
We organised breakfast for 7.30 and what a good breakfast – toast, cereal, bacon and eggs, coffee tea and juice.
Got kitted up and ready to go by 8.30 – it was already starting to get warm, looks like we were in for a hot day.
We decided on a different route and away we went. Leading us out I was very nervous, kangaroos and wallabies everywhere, but was confident on not coming across any other riders(bonus). The tracks have heaps of erosion jumps, so everybody was having some great fun. 5 minutes in , another flat tyre this time a rear, so a short breather was had.
We did a great valley run which finished at a little creek crossing with rubber mats on the exit/entry. This made for some slippery exits which caught a few riders out. We then decided to go a different way, so thought we better let the suppport vehicle know that lunch would be at the same place as previous day and to make sure they had enough fuel for a splash for everyone.
A couple of minor off’s and a husky which didn’t like the water, I had a bark buster moment, but we finally made it to lunch – it was getting hot by now so the break next to the river with the breeze blowing was good.
I opened up the fuel and gave everyone a splash to get us to the next servo, only 20kms away, well I thought I gave everyone enough.
Got going after lunch, little bit of transport section, got to the start of the powerline run back to east lynne and another husky has broken his muffler bracket, melted his rear breakline, so all over for him.
We sent him back with the sweep to the car, while the rest of us waited. While standing around chatting it was noticed that water was coming out of the bottom of another DRZ – hole in the waterpump cover, break out the quicksteel and patch, fill with gatoraid and were off.2ks from servo at the bottom a powerline hill, the gas gas 4t runs out of fuel, sweep is a 2 smoker and the next corner man about 1 km over the next hill. About 1 hr later we have got him some fuel and finally get to servo. Quick rest, ice block and top up the camel backs and we are on the home stretch only about 70ks to go.
Back at the cars 5.30, top weekend except for the dust, handed out our kamakazi cockhead of the ride award, and hit the road.
Did a total of 368kms, but think it is to hot for riding like that now, will have to wait for next season.cheers Hatto

I’ve driven to Melbourne and to Noosa a few times now in a single trip. Seems that once again I’ve been underestimated!
Plenty of tracks, nowra, wandandian, sussex, milton, termeil, eastlynne, batemans bay,the list just keeps going-you can ride from nowra to batemans bay with only about 10 kms tar.

Quote:since Bob has problems with his bike that couldnt be fixed before the weekend me and Green450 had a last minute change of plan, Batemans Bay it was, Nelligen caravan park anyway.we got blind on friday night at the Steampacket hotel, (dont ask about the name even the dopey locals dont know what its all about) it was pretty hot saturday, we had a bit of a swim-splash arond at Shallow Crossing then rode back to camp, with bad hangovers we gave up after a few hours and went and had lunch at the RSL with air con.
sunday was perfect weather with no hangovers, we found a few new loops that we had heard about and had a good ride.
monday was an early for a couple of hours then pack up camp and drive home.
Batemans Bay is a dirt bike Mecca.
Not sure about the name but it has something to do with steamboats taking wool from goulburn/braidwood out to sea and beyond.
If you camp at shallow crossing, there are hundreds of tracks all over.
The bay is mecca, for sure.

Greg, I could meet you at sutto’s about 8.30-9.00 tues morning or I could make it late tues arvo – when I finish at Kurrajong heights. Let me know which suits you best. 8.30 – 9.00 suits me mate
How are you going to get it to Mick, do you want me to crate it up, at the moment it is just loose. I don’t know if it will fit in the boot of a car, but it would fit in a wagon with seats down. Crate it if you can, I will put it in a box trailer and leave it there till I give it to Moose to take to Mick
cheers Hatto

Well finally got the chance to get out and try the newly fitted pivots, here’s my thoughts.
Bling, bling, bling -very shiney and the other riders noticed them straight away
They felt a little strange at first, :S worked out that shifter and break lever need to be adjusted.
After about 1hr, I had forgotten all about them -felt like they have always been there
felt way comfy on uphills standing, easy to rock forward and get over the bars, did stop me from pulling up on the bars a little as well :woohoo: ( I know i shouldn’t do this but it is hard not to)
Good for popping front wheel over obstacles, just roll back and give it some
Best thing is that it reduced ankle soreness. The day after the ride i usually have a little soreness, but not after this ride. We did 240ks, so was happy with result. I think less fatigue will be the best result of installing pivots, which means, more riding, for longer. 😆
I think I will try adjusting both foot levers down a little more so that when I am in standing position my feet can b straight and to do any work just roll on the pegs ( this is prob what they are meant for)
ALL IN ALL, 1 happy convert, thanks to pivot pegs, Mick, and OBT.
cheers Hatto
