Hi Nick
My take is a day’s riding is about 6 hrs riding (you go for 8 But with stops lunch etc) and in that about 100-120kms general mix of riding, so 2400km = 120hrs- (ball park idea) best thing I have found is your gut instinct, listen to it, look at their other belongings (car, house, yard etc) usually if they look after those, then they look after their bikes. Ask if a member of forum like this, then read up on ride reports, can give good idea of riding they do and break downs ,conditions, damage etc. second hand is always a gamble, be prepared to fix it up. I bought the last model with the RFS motor because all of the issues had been fixed over the years. This has proved good as now has 11000kms (no issues)hatto

Gold rebore, one of your best.
I got my 07 450 because it was the last of the old motor, so all issues sorted. bought with 1800kms and now has 11000kms and no rebuilds, valves or other issues. Valves are easy to check and adjust-not bucket/shim but the other ones(don’t know what they are called) 1/2 hour job to adjust. I have no desire to change-very happy

I wont go into the ins and outs of proper ADV riding as if you haven’t done a decent one you wouldn’t understand. I will however continue to do both see the country, enjoy the social sides of both, ride most weekends in some form or another and kick your arse when we ride next   :laugh:Enjoy mate
PS sorry I missed your ride down there this year because I was in the states. Maybe when it cools down you can take me and educate me on the hard core single world as I haven’t ridden the trails down there since the four day
Look forward to a catch up but soon

+1;)

MurphHi Murph
If you ever want to drift down this way, I have a series of about 11 murphsberg trails to take you on, went out on sunday, rode from 9.00 till 4.45 and did 66km and that was only 3 tracks – they are right up your alley.hatto

Aido, we have had 5 Katos and they have all been great bikes, mate
Thoughts to ponder for me would be.
Do you have both KTM and Yammy dealers close by?
Can you go without a bike for a few months, ouch??
It is coming into summer so would it matter so much not to have a bike for a while???
And then it comes down to personal preference.
Cheers
MurphHe does live in melbourne Murf, it’s never summer down there:laugh:
Go the kato and enjoy a proper riding experience;)

UHF’s are what we use with the speaker mic strapped to vest/backpack, then wired an ear piece to handset so all is independent to helmet- found the handset really good in single and to talk, but in the open a bit hard to hear, thats why we connected the earpiece. We have one for sweep, one for lead and one in mid pack. Found that the earpiece with the little activation button was to hard to find(flaps about in the breeze)whereas the big button on the right shoulder(handset)is easy as.
Sewed a pouch into the back of the vests so that when you change lead/sweep etc the uhf goes with it.hatto
